Daniele's POV
The faint smell of age sifted throughout the long closed asylum. White paint crumbling off the walls, the red graffiti falling off along with it.
I ran my hand along the wall, the paint falling off into my hands. I shook it off. I admired the walls, sometimes the things most disturbing could be the most beautiful.
I pulled up the Wikipedia page on my phone, scrolling through the history of the asylum. It was closed down in 1965, due to the harsh abuse that went on to the patients.
It's sad to think that the poor patients had to deal with being so badly hurt for not being able to control their issues, it's even sadder that the authorities breezed past this for such a long time.
I shoved my phone back in my pocket when I heard some noises. I spun around on my heels, seeing if it was anything behind me. I shook it off and assumed it was just a bird flying through the shattered windows.
I continued walking through the asylum, my feet crushing paper and burnt out cigarettes. The sad stories practically cluttered up the space, causing it to have such a negative vibe that was physically pushing me away.
Eric's POV
I didn't know where I was. I ran through the walls, feeling trapped in my own box. The walls seemed never to end, they just kept on going.
I kept on thinking I was hearing someone else's footsteps, but then I shook it off. What are the chances that someone else would be in here? I had to sneak in a bunch of tunnels just to get in here. I don't even know why I came in here, it's not something that I would usually do, but I majorly regretted it.
I walked and walked on for what felt like forever. Something trapped me in my tracks, footsteps were definitely near. I don't think I could've been imagining it.
Daniele's POV [My apologies for the constant switch]
I turned my head around the stone column, was that.. a body? He looked like he was wandering around, lost maybe? He looked around my age, but I wasn't sure. His brown hair seemed to cover up his face pretty well.
I took a loud sigh, and I broke the silence with my words.
"Are you lost?"
The boy snapped around, obviously frightened.
"Actually, unfortunately, yes I am." He looked like he just saw a ghost.
I walked closer towards him, "I don't bite, I promise". I added a soft little laugh to the end, just so he knew I was joking.
When I came face to face with the boy, I could see his full face. Fading acne scars covered his cheeks, yet his forehead was completely clear. His green eyes were peering into my soul.
"I'm Daniele." I said, offering him my hand. He took it with a bit of hesitation, but I brushed it off.
"I was in here trying to figure out more about it's past, when I saw you, I'm sorry if I startled you."
"It's alright, I was starting to get lost anyways", he spoke with a shaky voice.
I gave him a half smile, and I reached into my bag and pulled out a pack of Marlboro lights. "Do you smoke?" I said, offering a cigarette from the flipped open pack to him.
"No, I don't." he said, a look of disgust on his face.
I shrugged and took one out, putting it in my mouth. Rummaging around in my bag for a lighter, I found one. I lit my cigarette, took a drag, and held it in between two of my fingers.
"Where are you heading? You in any rush?" I tried to start any kind of conversation with him, but it was almost like he was mute.
"No, nowhere. No rush, just exploring." he finally said back, after a few moments of silence. He strides over to a broken down bench by the wall. Sitting down on it, he neatly folded his hands in his lap.
Eric's POV
I don't understand how she could just kill her
lungs like that. I kept looking at my hands in my lap, then I kept looking at her. Whenever I looked at her, she was always taking a drag off her cigarette.
After she finished smoking her cigarette, she threw it on the ground and crushed it with the heel of her boot. She walked over to me, and took a seat next to me. I took a minute to study her complexion. She was doll like, and her face was perfectly symmetrical.
"Do you know the way out?" I asked. She replied with a no, and I was starting to get worried. In the distance I heard a boom of thunder. After what felt like forever, she got up. She started walking down the nearest flight of stairs, and I couldn't decide if I should follow her or not.
