As the sun was up climbing up above the cliff, warming up the cold earth as it was ready to start the day. A dawn patrol was heading toward the borders of the territory. The patrol scavenged the area trying to track any sign of living prey for the pack.
"Ash, you got something yet?" A deep voice asked behind a bush. A brown wolf with blue eyes appeared. His eyes narrowing at Ash as it was expecting for any good news.
"No, not yet" Replied Ash. "Have you got something Sky?"
The brown wolf shook his head and continued sniffing.
A few heart beats have pasted as they heard foot steps by the herb plains.
Sky perked his ears. "Did you hear that?" He whispered. Ash nodded silently and walked toward the direction of the noise. Sky did the same as he fell behind. The foot steps were calm and slow. Not like a squirrel with its hurry and jumping collecting nuts! But some big animal scavenging for a meal as well.
Ash took a very deep sniff and mumbled. "It's here" He pointed with his paw to a tree. They both slowly went to see the creature behind it. And suddenly they saw a female deer munching on some leaves.
Ash and Sky flattened their ears and pounced on the deer. It screeched in panic and surprise and was jumping all over the place. Sky sinked his teeth into its neck but Ash flew off of the deer and slammed on a tree. Sky gripped tighter, sinking his teeth into the deer's flesh. The deer whimpered.
Ash came out again then leaped and tackled the deer to the ground. They both finished it off, and they relaxed a bit.
"Nice job Sky." Ash said panting, staring at the motionless deer.
"Not bad" Sky responded back "For a newbie!" He teased as Ash pushed him over playfully. "Let's just take this back to the camp, eh?" Ash began to drag the deer. Sky nodded and he helped Ash drag the deer.
The two wolves were close to the camp, but they stopped for a while to take a break. Sky shoke his pelt and yawned. They were both silent taking breaths but soon they were going to continue moving. A stick had snapped and echoed in the forest, they weren't alone. Ash's ears perked up and mumbled to his packmate. "I don't think Sarge had already sent the morning patrol to check the borders, it's too early!" Sky was silent, smelling the air and his ears flickering for any sound. Another stick was snapped, sounds like someone is coming.. Or something. Sky's gaze was fixed on the dark forest ahead of them. His tail was straight and his voice was firm.
"Who goes there?!" He growled
A pair of eyes were staring at Sky, it's glowing yellow eyes were serious.
"What are you doing with my deer?" The voice said huskily staring at the dead, motionless body.
"Your deer? This deer belongs to the Pack of Forgotten Dreams!" Ash snapped.
Sky was silent then curled his lips. "Get out of our territory!" His gaze was cold staring at the unknown wolf.
"Ah, you mean our future territory?" The wolf growled calmly, having an evil grin.
"Wait, what?" Ash squeaked. Suddenly a whole lot of eyes appeared staring at the two wolves. A pack! But not just any pack, a huge pack!
"Hehehehe.." Chuckled the unknown wolf as it leaped at Ash and Sky. A few moments later they were gone, but only there was left with a pool of blood on the ground.
