“Calm down.”

“What are you doing in here?”

“Your sister let me in, now come back to bed.”

I let my heart go back to normal and sat down, but didn’t lay down.

“I thought…”

“Come here.”

He pulled at my hand and I laid down facing him.

We watched one another as he caressed my cheek sending a million and one electrical currents throughout my body.

“Why are you here?”

“I couldn’t sleep thinking that maybe you had spent the night with him.”

“And if I did.”

“Then I would have known you didn’t love me.”

“But you didn’t want to make love to me, so what does that tell me?”

“That I respect you, that in the water in the middle of the night was not how I wanted us to make love.’

“Didn’t stop you four years ago.”

“Four years ago we were hormonal teenagers and you weren’t drunk.”

“I wasn’t drunk.”

“But you were drinking and that’s enough.”

“Then you should have said something instead of swimming away.”

I turned around then, but he just pulled me back against his chest.

“I’m sorry, but I want you to know that I did, that I do.”

He pulled me even closer and kissed the back of my neck.

“I want you to be happy; I want you to live your life the way you’ve always dreamed of.”

I bit my lip, but I couldn’t keep my tears in.

“Emilia, I love you more than anything in this world.”

“But you don’t want me.”

“Yes I do, oh baby I do.”

He turned me around then, kissing me until he was lying on top of me.

“I want you; I’m always going to want you. Damb it I want you now.”

He pressed himself against me, making me lean back and arch my back.

“Do you want me Emilia?”

I was about to say yes when the moon light hit my ring and I couldn’t. Christian didn’t deserve me cheating when all he’s ever done was be good to me.

“Emilia?”

I snapped out of it and looked back at him.

“I can’t.”

“Can’t or won’t?”

“Both, Christ…

“Don’t.”

He got up then and started pacing the floor.

“Don’t marry him Emilia. It’s not like you said yes and besides you don’t love him! I’m Maison’s father; I’m the one who took your innocence not him!”

“I know you did, but that doesn’t change things!  This doesn’t change this!”

I pulled my shirt off and showed him my neck.
