The sunshine hit her face as she left the park shelter, ready for the weekend. And her birthday. Her two friends joined her. "Soooo... Your birthday's tomorrow. "Mark said with a grin. "Yeah? So?" She said, a smile touching her lips. "Well... Don't expect anything from me." He shouted, already starting to run. He was laughing like a maniac. The girl called Mia grinned, and chased after him.
The next day...
Mia woke up, overboiling with excitment. It was her birthday! She leapt out of bed and ran downstairs, her adorable penguin PJs keeping her warm in the early morning chill. Her mum and dad were already awake. "Happy birthday!" They shouted, hugging her tightly. Following tradition, they got her one present each. She put them in a corner, to be opened later. Her mum's Companion, a lioness, wandered in from the kitchen. She dropped a small piece of flat wood at her feet, beautifully carved with a claw to represent a sunset in swirls and patterns. Mia picked up the carving. It was exquisite, and the back had been clawed lightly to make a crisscross backing. "Thank you Shiva," She said. "It's lovely." The lioness growled softly, then lay at her mother's feet. Mia went back to her bedroom to get dressed, and prepare herself for The Potion. Once she was ready and had her breakfast, Mia, her mum and Shiva headed to the center of the village, where a single house stood. They knocked, and entered.
