"You'll be late for school, Matt, hurry up" my mom shouted from downstairs,
"Coming," I shouted back.
I slid my black vans on my feet and grabbed my back pack then headed downstairs.
"Ah, mom? Can I drive today?"
"What? Of course you can't, you just got your license yesterday."
"But I know how to drive, school isn't that far."
"I said no, now come on or I'll make you walk."
I groaned. She's gonna have to let me drive sometime, my car is sitting in the garage just screaming "DRIVE ME" she bought it to tease me, I know I'll have to practice in a parking lot with her before I get on the road. I got into the mini van and buckled up.
"Hey, Gabe, buckled up?"
"Mmmm, yeah,"
Gabe was my younger brother, his real name is Gabriel, but we call him Gabe. He's thirteen, like my sister, Gretchen, they're twins. Gretchen decided to play sick today, the old stomachache card, they use it a lot. Mom started the car and pulled out of the driveway.
"Do you guys need any money?" mom directed towards me and Gabe.
"No, I'm good, thanks"
"Yeah, just five" Gabriel answered.
"Baby, will you get a five out from my wallet and hand it to your brother, please and thank you." She said taking a sip of her coffee. I handed my brother the bill and plugged my headphones into my phone. Staring out the window made me notice how nice Minneapolis looked in the daytime. I closed my eyes and listened to Ride by Twenty One Pilots until we got to my school.
"I'll see you after school, I love you have a good day sweetie," Mom said fast to where I could barely understand her. "oh, and you'll have to ride the bus, I won't be able to pick you up, love you bye." She added as she was driving off. I saw the passenger window roll up as she drove off. I turned around and groaned at the sight of my school.
"Have a good day sweetie," I heard. It had to be Mara, she's the only one who catches my mom saying the most embarrassing things to me.
"Haha" I say without enthusiasm, "very funny"
"Yeah, I know, it is funny" she said while laughing. I turned around and started to walk away.
"Aw, c'mon, I'm only joking," She came up beside me and kissed my cheek "you love me."
"Barely," I said.
She gasped.
"Matthew Paul Abbott, I know you did not just say you didn't love me," she said jokingly "shame on you" she added with her index finger in my face.
"Oh, but I didn't," I chuckled "I said I barely loved you. There's a difference." She wasn't paying attention anymore, no, her eyes were on something else. I look to see that she's staring at Chris Peters, he's this asshole at our school.
"Oh, gross, stop it," I said while turning her head away from him.
"But he's so hot" she groaned.
"Yeah, yeah. Come on" I pulled her into the building. We go separate ways because she's in a lower grade than me. She's 16, and a junior while I'm 17 and a senior. I meet up with two of my other friends, Izzy and Sam, you probably think Izzy is a girl and Sam is a boy, but it's actually the other way around. Izzy's real name is Isaiah and Sam's Samantha. All of my friends have nickname's, it's just logic. Like my name is Matthew, but everyone calls me Matt.
"Heard about Richard's party?" Isaiah asked me.
"Richard..."
"Tiller" he said, knowing what I was waiting for.
"Oh, no, when is it?" I said bending down to get a drink from the water fountain.
"It's Friday, right Sam?" she nods in agreement, "yeah, Friday," I stand up and wipe my mouth.
"Time?" I ask him.
"I don't know man, probably around 8 or something"
"Yeah? I'll think about it, but hey, I got to go." I said then I walk to my locker.
"Hey, Matt" a perky voice said into my ear. I turn to see a face loaded with makeup and breathe in pounds of hairspray.
"Ehm, Amanda, hi?" I said, closing my locker
"Hello, did you hear about Richard's party Friday? I heard there's gonna be lots of people, are you going?" She said quickly.
"Um, yeah, I said I'll think about it." I replied and began to walk off, she trailed behind me.
"Well great, I'm going to be there also, so you should look for me, you know, if you go, I think--" I cut her off
"Yeah, it'll be lots of fun, I gotta go" I said while walking away fast. "Hey, Zac, wait" I said, catching up to him.
"Oh, Matt, what's up?" he said, looking at me. No one knows, but I've had a thing for Zac for about 3 months now. I don't want to accept it, but I have to. It's from his deep blue eyes, to his skin tone, to the light colored freckles across is nose. His hair is amazing and let's not forget his ass. He was over the line straight though, and I have no chance with him whatsoever, if only, if only.
"Nothing, just heading to class" I said back to him while looking down. I could never fully look into his eyes, I'd either smile, stare, or go down to his lips, and I don't need that.
"Ah, cool, so I bet you've heard about the party?" He said with a light chuckle.
"Oh please, I wouldn't be surprised if my little sister found out by the end of the day, but yeah, it's been mentioned once or twice. You going?"
"Maybe," He said giving me a smile afterwards.
Oh god, that smile.
I returned the smile and looked down so he wouldn't see the light blush on my face.
"You always look down when you talk to me, why?" he says raising one eyebrow and dropping the other. "Am I that ugly?"
No, you're hot, god, so cute.
"No?" I answered, "I do this with everyone." I said calmly.
"Oh, well, you shouldn't, but hey, I'll see you at lunch." Then he disappeared into a classroom.
The hall began to become emptier, but I just stood there. "You shouldn't" . What does that mean? Does it mean he finds me attractive? Or does it mean I'm being rude by not looking at him? I walked to my class, but I was still thinking about what he said.

I don't know how long a normal chapter is, but this is 1130 words, I was thinking maybe 2000 a chapter or something, but that seems a bit too much. I don't know. We'll see.
