The brunette scowled at the other, slinging his bag over his shoulder and marching down the hallway, into the back bedroom.

Visions of evil half-brothers clouded the young man’s mind as he changed into his nighttime clothes. He slipped on his favorite spotted pajama pants as he clambered into bed, making sure to leave the light on.

Dan yawned quietly, allowing his heavy eyelids to close. His field of vision gradually turned into pinpoints and sleepiness washed over his tired body, his limbs going limp.

“Hey faggot!”

Dan’s eyes snapped open and he scanned the room. His eyes landing upon a rather lanky form standing in the doorway. Luke.

The brown eyed male turned over, his face burrowing into the pillow, “What do you want?”

“I thought you said you were going to bed? Why the fuck is the light still on? I can’t fucking sleep with this godforsaken light on!”

“Sorry,” Dan began, reaching into his bag and pulling out a small plug-in light, “I’ll just put this in instead.”

The other boy’s lips curled in crude laughter, “What? A fucking night light?! You’re a bigger fag than I thought you were.”

The brunette’s eyes stung with the threat of tears as he listened to the other’s cruel remarks.

The man in the doorway continued to laugh, “This is gold! Is little Danny afraid of the dark? Scared of the monsters under his bed? Oh man, that’s rich!”

“It’s not funny, Luke,” his voice came out as a pitiful squeak.

Luke lumbered into the room, clutching his stomach as he cackled exaggeratedly. He reached down, snatching the light from his friend’s hands.

“What would happen if I were to,” he threw the night light to the floor, watching it shatter into a combustion of sparks, “smash it?”

Dan’s eyes widened in shock, staring at the broken glass on the floor. He looked back up and saw that the other male was already back in the doorway, his hand on the light switch.

“Bye Danny,” he spoke through a toothy smile. He flicked the switch and slammed the door, locking Dan in the room.

The brown eyed man froze, looking around in horror.

Pitch.

Black.

A small yelp left Dan’s lips and he raced for the door, fumbling blindly for the handle.

“Luke!” he shrieked, all dignity and composure long forgotten.

He turned the doorknob widely and to his horror found that it was locked from the outside.

Dan began screaming, pounding his fists against the door in pure panic.

“Let me out! Someone, please!”

His hands franticly searched the wall for the light switch, but all they found were smooth plaster.

He ran around the room, adrenaline surging through his veins. He dove onto the bed, looking desperately through his bag for his cell phone. Upon finding it, he shakily held down the number 2 button, speed dialing Phil.

Tears steadily streamed down his cheeks, his breath heavy and uneven as he held the phone to his ear.

“Dan? Are you alright? How’s the sleepover?”

“…P-phil…”

“Dan what’s wrong?!”

“…Help m-me…please…”
