The Race

One day at little Leilani's 7th birthday she got the present of her dreams. She had waited so long for this present and now she finally had it . She got her very own horse. How it happened was that Leilani had been begging her parents to buy her a horse that she can care all for her own. Her parents planned to get her a horse but it took some time to save up the money so her parents both agreed that when it was her birthday she would get the horse she always wanted. Leilani was in the jumper with her cousins and friends, then when it was time to open presents her parents let her open their present last. When she opened her present she was confused , all that was inside was a saddle for a horse she didn't have......yet. Leilani asked, "Why do I need this if I don't have a horse." Her mom said, " So you can ride your horse." Leilani eyes were wide open and when she saw her dad coming from the stables with a horse she ran faster then she'd ever. She hugged the horse and said, " Thank you , Thank you , Thank you so much mommy and daddy i've always wanted a horse, but is it a boy or a girl? ?" Her dad said " It's a girl and you can name her anything you want ." " Leilani said, "Umm... what about Lacy " "That's a beautiful name for your horse" Leilani asked the horse and surprisingly it was like the horse understood her, because when Leilani asked the horse if she liked the name, and the horse nodded. After her party all you would see Leilani do after school is try to ride Lacy , but of course since she was still to small she would on with her dad. Once Leilani was 10 she had learned how to control Lacy . Leilani and Lacy inseparable. When Leilani was stressed she got on Lacy and went through the forest . She would bring some apples for Lacy and some sandwiches for her so they could go out and stop for a snack when they felt like it. Finally when Leilani was 16 she had gotten into her first race. Leilani asked her parents and they said, "..Well if you can keep your grades up then you have our permission" " I promise I will, THANKS SO MUCH MOM AND DAD" Leilani got straight to training Lacy . She planned that she would train Lacy during winter break. The race was on the friday of the last week of winter break, So Leilani started practicing every day of winter break leading up to the big race. If she won first prize she would get $10,000 , this money would help leilani open her own ranch of horses and make money off of that. Everyday practicing for 3 hours straight Leilani and Lacy would trai. Lacy finally improved on her speed and jumping abilities. While Leilani was practicing on not bouncing so much and keeping her posture and balance on Lacy. On Wednesday the day of the sign ups for the race , Leilani went with her parents and Lacy, the assistant said , "Now who will be participating on this Fridays race ?" "That would be me ma'am " "Ok please sign this sheet out and bring it back to me , ok" " Yup got it thanks." It took Leilani 15 minutes to fill out the sheet . She would be at stable #16 . When leilani went in and saw how dirty the stall was she stayed there for about another hour cleaning it for Lacy when they came back. As they were leaving little did they know that their stall was being sabotaged by a boy about the same age as Leilani. The boys named was Fabian, he was Leilani's worst enemy. Leilani had heard that Fabian too had entered the race. Her worst nightmare was that Fabian would win the $10,000 dollars and use it for something else then for the well being of horses. When Leilani and her parents left, Fabian went to Leilani's stable and dumped a coral snake into the stable and left. That friday Leilani without noticing the snake put Lacy in her stable. Then she left to get a snack she heard Lacy get afraid she raced back and then noticed that a snake had bitten her. This was even more dangerous because the coral snake was red and yellow, that meant that the snake was poisonous. Leilani screamed, "MOM, DAD HURRY UP COME!!!!!" Her parents came rushed her dad carefully let the snake out of the stable and mom quickly called a veterinarian. With only 2 hours till the race Leilani broke out in tears and said, "It's ok Lacy everything will be alright, right mom?" "Don't worry honey the veterinarians on her way."After 5 minutes the vet came. The veterinarian said that there is a very low chance of Lacy being ok. Leilani would have to forfeit the race and lose her horse she had for 9 years know was going to pass. Then a miracle struct one of the veterinarian's colleagues came and said that they had brought and antidote that would help the horse. After spending an hour on Lacy the doctor came back with the news, "So we've done everything we could and...........Lacy will be ok to be in the race!?!" Leilani was so happy. With only 10 minutes before the race she got ready Lacy was as ready as she would ever be. As soon as Fabian saw that Lacy and Leilani were ready to go his face was red with anger that his plan didn't work. The time had come that Leilani's future would depend on this race. She waited for the gun pop. Waited.............................."BANG" there wnet Leilani and Lacy taking the Lead. Fabian was close second right behind. Lacy's leg started to hurt which made her slow down know they were in 2nd place. Seeing Fabian run past them was the worst feeling. Almost at the end of the race Leilani had thought to herself that know she wouldn't be able to win. Well at the last few seconds Lacy sprung almost making Leilani fall out, but luckily she didn't. Leilani was head to head with Fabian. As she reached the finished line it looked like Fabian and Leilani tied. The camera crew that was filming was processing the photo Leilani's heart was pumping out of her chest. When the picture should who won the crowd went wild. LEILANI HAD BEATEN FABIAN BY 5 INCHES. Leilani could not believe she had won the race. After that race she collected the money and was given an award as she was going back to the stable she saw Fabian. The police said that they saw camera footage of him sneaking the snake into the stable, the cops said," You are now banned to race here ever again!" Fabian had a whole tantrum. After that day Leilani let Lacy rest for 3 weeks and finally purchased her farm where she would raise racing horses and them sell them. Leilani became so attached to this ranched she even lived there. She and Lacy lived happily ever after.
