CHAPTER TWO

The Fire Incident

Joanna was in France, when the mansion house of the Trias family had been totally wiped out by the fire caused by the short-circuiting of Christmas lights.

Marcus Alexander Trias just came from a business trip in Vienburg City, Missi as he saw their house being eaten up fully by the fire.

The firefighters had successfully saved Angela Joie but the rest of the Trias were dead.

It had been shown to the flash news that evening. Daddy Juan and Mommy Antonia were able to watch it. They also saw Marcus on the TV refusing for an interview. So they phoned Harry to get Marcus’ mobile phone number.

Harry phoned Marcus, informing him that Daddy Juan and Mommy Antonia would be coming as soon as possible. He had forgotten to ask about Joanna’s child.

Daddy Juan had also phoned Marcus.

“We’ll be there, Marcus.”

Marcus uttered, “Thanks, Tito.”

Daddy Juan asked, “Where will you be staying?

Marcus replied, “I still don’t know where, Tito. I’m now in the hospital with Angela Joie.”

Daddy Juan knew the Trias family well that even if he didn’t know the name of his granddaughter, he knew Marcus was referring to her. “She’s alive?!”

Marcus informed the biological grandfather of his adoptive niece, “Yes, Tito. She was the only one who had been saved.”

Daddy Juan said, “Well, feel free to use our vacation house. I already phoned the caretaker.”

Marcus expressed his gratitude, “Thanks, Tito.”

Daddy Juan and Mommy Antonia boarded a plane to Puerto Ava City at around four o’clock in the morning the following day.

Marcus stayed for the night at the vacation house of the Nuezas as soon as the doctor attending to Angela Joie informed him that she was out of danger but needed to stay under observation for two or more days.

It was around five o’clock in the morning when Daddy Juan and Mommy Antonia arrived at their vacation house. Marcus was there but they let him rest.

Marcus woke up at around six in the morning. They all had breakfast together. After the breakfast, they had talked at the living room.

“So, what are your plans?” Daddy Juan asked him. He was aware that Marcus had been managing the export-import company of the family. That was the reason why he was often in Vienburg City. Aside from the company of the family, he also had his other business dealings as stockholder of a number of companies in Puerto Ava City.

Marcus answered, “Their remains should of course be properly buried. Angela Joie had to be attended to as well as the business.”

“We’re here to help,” Mommy Antonia said. “Just tell us what to do.”

“We have to visit Angela Joie first in the hospital. I have to introduce you to her. She’ll sure be happy. She has been bugging us about Joanna for the past four months.”

“She already knew?” Mommy Antonia was surprised about Marcus’ revelation.

“She’s a very smart child not to notice that she has no resemblance to anyone of us. She also saw Joanna’s picture in the cover of Mars and Venus I brought home from a trip.”
