Screen (xEngineer)

You waved back, still pretty frozen.

"Well, best get goin'!"

You nodded and headed towards the RED respawn with Engineer.

"So, how long have ya been two workin' together?"

"3 years.."

You both walked in uncomfortable silence.

"So what do ya do in yer free time?"

"...stuff.."

And you both fell silent again.

Things were no different when you both got to the respawn room. You cleaned the mess up in silence while Engineer helped.

You screamed internally the entire time. Your hands shook and your face burned like pyro's flare gun.

At last the mess was cleaned up, and you were done organizing stacks of weapons. Engineer gave a small cough.

"So..ah.. I guess we're done here?"

You nodded. You were quite upset that you couldn't muster the courage to say anything. But that was how it was.. and now it was time for you both to leave.

You both took a step when suddenly the respawn room's doors shut.

"Huh...???"

You tried to open the doors, and you even fiddled with the control panels.. but to no avail.

"Somethin' wrong?"

"Ah.. yes.. just one moment.."

You did everything you could but nothing seemed to work.

"Ah.. the doors won't open..!!"

Engineer gave a look of suprise.

"Here.. let me have a try"

He started fiddling with the control panel but everything was still jammed.

"Hold on.. just a second"

You took out your cellphone and tried to call Ms. Pauling. But the signal was down.

Engineer rubbed the back of his head.

"Ah'm sure Ms. Pauling will come check on us later on"

You nodded and sighed, taking a seat near the lockers.

Engineer whistled. Having nothing to do, he got out his sentry and started working on it.

You watched him silently as he twisted knobs and kept working.

"Dangnabbit! Everythin's in place... should be workin' by now!"

You took a closer look at the sentry. It was the sentry used a while ago in battle. You remembered that the BLU Spy was acting usually around this one.

"Hold on.."

You kneeled next to the sentry and ran your hands over where the Spy had also touched.

"Wait a minute..!"

You pulled a part of the sentry off. It turns out it was actually a sapper disguised as a part of the sentry!

"Well I'll be..!!"

Engineer just stared at the sapper with a look of shock.

"Damn that Spah! Next time I seem him Ah'll launch his hide back to France!"

You couldn't help but giggle. It was so strange to see Engineer say something like this in person. You were used to seeing him through the screen.

Your laughter was contagious, and soon enough Engineer couldn't help but chuckle himself.

The laughter soon died down, and you both sat with a smile on your faces.

"Umm.. Engineer..?"

Engineer was surprised that you spoke first.

"Yes?"

"Uh.. I was wondering.."

You took a deep breath, and mustered all your courgage.

"If.. you'd like to.. uh.."

Engineer smiled.

"Well uh....get.. d.."

Engineer finished your sentence for you.

"Go get some dinner?"

You blushed furiously and nodded. Engineer gave a chuckle.

Suddenly the doors opened.

"Oh! The doors are open!"

You both looked at each other at the same time and started laughing. You both started heading out.

The Administrator gave a satisfied smirk as she watched you and the Engineer walk out together, laughing and talking.
