"Get him!" I yelled as my boyfriend ran past my teams checkpoint. "Don't let him reach the marker," I raised my bow. "Micah I've got my bow and you know I won't miss," He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to see me standing there bow in hand and ready to fire at a moment's notice.
"Okay Cam, no need to make any rash decisions," he put his hands in the air because he knows how good I actually am.
"Back away from the marker and you'll walk away clean," I smiled and pulled back a little more on my paint filled arrow. He grinned and I fired, he tried to jump out of the way but I knew he would so I aimed a little further left knowing that's where he's jump and I hit him perfectly in the chest. He hit the ground and didn't get back up like he usually does. Getting hit with a paint arrow doesn't hurt as badly as getting hit with a paint ball. "Micah?" I called out. "Jonas why isn't he getting up?" I yelled for his twin brother who was on my team this weekend. Basically what we do is we have weekly paint ball battles, but with weapons of our choice. I always choose the bow because it's another part of me, like an extension. We are in training to be put on some new task force kind of thing.
"Camilla calm down, I'll go and check on him," Jonas said before he blew the whistle calling time out. "Time out teams, gather at the center," then he headed over to where Micah was. "Uh, Camilla I think you need to come over and see this, Jonas sounded worried so I dropped everything and ran.
"Micah!" I yelled and had tears welling in my eyes. I got over to where Jonas was and there was nothing there, no Micah. "What the hell? Where is he?"
"Are you sure this is where he fell?"
"Jonas," I turned to look at him. "I had my bow on him. I know where he was,"
"I'm sorry Cam," he put his hand on my shoulder.
I stepped closer towards Jonas and hugged him. "Wh-Where is he?" I started to cry. I have been with Micah since we were fourteen and were both in our twenties.
"I don't know but we'll find him," he said as he pulled his whistle out and called the other teams. "Alright, here's what's going on, we have a missing man and we need to find him as soon as possible. Are you ready?"
"Yes sir," everyone said in unison. I didn't respond I just stayed in Jonas's arms sobbing. "We will be down a member so we need someone to step up and make sure they cover the extra areas. Who is willing to help?"
"I will sir," Nero stepped forward. He is a tall, pale guy and is one of our best warriors, other than Jonas, Micah, and myself.
"Thank you Nero," I said still shaken up. "I'm sorry but this mission is just too personal for me to be able to concentrate and be the best, so it's up to you to find Micah and figure out what happened to him,"
"Yes ma'am," he saluted me and started rallying the troops. "Johnson take your team south, Adams go north, Gunner you have the west, and my team will go east. This is a full sweep make sure you check high and low, no matter the stakes this is one of our own!"
"Sir, yes sir!" Everyone yelled in unison.
"Jonas you aren't going to help?" I asked.
"I think staying with you is the best way for me to help," he said as the troops headed out. I stayed next to him still shaking and trying my best to gather myself. I watched them as they began their sweep weapons in hand and making sure to keep in contact over the mics that we automatically have no matter where we are. Everyone kept checking and saying everywhere was clear and that there was no one to be found. So far they have made it at least a half a mile without seeing anything and I started to get more and more worried. "Cam take your earpiece out, I'll listen and make sure you know what's going on," I did as was told and sat down. He sat next to me and held me close making sure I was okay and wasn't going to run off in some weird direction screaming frantically. "They've gone about a mile and still nothing, should I call them back or have them go to the border, your call," he asked.
