It was a dimly lighted Monday morning a great day for a camping trip thought Lucas however he wasn't camping hi was at the final stage of his training and it started in twenty minutes. Lucas was an exceptional troop being fit and healthy, sticking to the rules and he was by far the best shot in his regiment. He jogged to the start point of his final test to be met by Sergeant Brashner, he was a short man yet his eyes as fierce as a bear and he had a booming voice Lucas knew for a fact the tiny Sergeant could defend himself from watching him in hand to hand combat practice and Lucas admired him yet hated him at the same time however he wasn't going to let that stop him from passing this test and joining the army just like his father had done before him.
"Eager are we streak?" The sergeant boomed.
"Sir" Lucas replied
"This isn't a play around with your friends streak it's serious and if you don't take it seriously then you aren't going to make it as a soldier it doesn't matter who your father is so if I were you I would be looking nervous and hoping my aim was good enough."
"Yes sir of course." Lucas said not knowing why it was Brashner didn't like him he had never done anything wrong in all his time as a rookie he had been referred to as a model soldier by many superior figures in his time at the training camp also he didn't find Brashner intimidating what he said was just stupid and Lucas couldn't see why so many rookies fired him yes he had a booming voice and a chilling gaze but he just didn't seem cut out to be in the military thought Lucas.
"So streak is your attitude suitable for this test..." Lucas tuned the sergeant out he was to focuses on the test it was a fitness test more than anything and he felt like he was the fittest recruit their and his results in tests backed this up, the Circe was simple an obstacle course which he thought he could pass through in about five minutes then on to the firing range to test his aim at close quarters and at a distance then finally 3 laps around a set distance in the academy which he thought would take a maximum of 20 minutes. Lucas was not feeling and pressure to pass this test and he didn't feel worried either thought he knew he should be their would be three generals examining his every move they were to decide if he passed or not yet Lucas could see no reason why he couldn't.
The gun signalling Lucas to start went off and he ran straight to the first obstacle crawling under barbed wire easy thought Lucas past that in seconds he tried his best to keep a count of his time but he lost count after getting into a rhythm. The final obstacle would be the trickiest and the most time consuming it was an eight foot wall that Lucas had to climb over but he wasn't worried he jumped up and hung on to the wall with his fingers a test of his upper body strength no problem he pulled himself up and over and ran about fifty meters to the target range he hit all of them without even having to change a mag he was on a role he sprinted off to the three laps he estimated it to be about four miles he could do that easy he thought he started off and finished his first lap in what he estimated to be about seven minutes and was around the second in roughly the same amount of time one more lap he sprinted the last five hundred meters of this lap and was greeted at the finish line by Sergeant Brashner who was looking unimpressed by Lucas effort on this training course.
"The generals are reviewing your results you will here from them in the next few days don't be surprised if it's not what you were hoping for."
Lucas stood to attention for a few minutes whilst Brashner was glaring at him.
"Dismissed." And with that Lucas headed for the canteen.
