Chapter One

"Yo, Garnet!" We heard his we heard his best friend slash teammate, Greyson called, and trailing behind him were his other teammates, Josh, Tom, and Steve.

"Hey, guys." He greeted as he gave them high fives and did that guy hug.

"Hey look, it's Ruby." Josh exclaimed. And Tom and Steve said their 'hey's.

"Hey there as well, Red " Greyson greeted as we fist bumped.

" 'Sup Grey, Josh, Tom and Steve." I smiled. Actually, our peers call us by our second name, me and Xander, but when it comes to family or relatives, they call us by our first name. Don't ask why. "Well, you ladies enjoy yourselves, I gotta go." I joked as I began to walk away from them.

"See 'ya Red." Greyson waved. He was like my best guy friend, in a way, I don't know. I call him Grey because it was his favorite color, and that it was somewhat his first name. So we call each other by our favorite colors, I don't know, it was his idea.

"Hey, don't skip classes." Xander reminded.

"Chill Xander, I'm not like you." I smirked,then made my way towards my locker.

I began twisting the code of my locker 22-7-16 and as I opened it, I began scanning through my things, looking for my binder with all my sheet music My locker needs major cleaning, I thought, going deeper through her things. When I finally found that stupid binder, I grabbed my biology and english textbooks and closed my locker door.

"Ruby!" I heard someone call,

"Hey, Kara!" I greeted as she skipped towards me.

"I am in need of girl tips, my boyfriend's such a jerk." Kara spat as we began to walk towards Biology. Kara and I were best friends for as long as I can remember.

We met in the mall when we were 4 and we became best friends since then. We became pen pals for 9 years, since Xander and I went with papa to Paris. Fourteen year old Kara was the fist to see me arrive in the airport when we moved with mama. She knows me more that I know myself, she's like family to us. We may not be sisters by blood, but we're sisters by heart. I love her more than I love my own mother.

"You mean, Josh?" I asked. As I mentioned earlier, Joshua Smith, my brother's soccer teammate, was dating Kara ever since freshman year, I know that they might argue all the time, but they both really loved each other deeply. They both had Brown hair and hazel eyes; they look more like relatives than couples, which give them this weird chemistry. What happened this time? I always thought that people could date their cousins no matter how distant. Ever since I met Josh, I thought he was cousins with Kara, and then I found out that he's dating her, I went crazy and thought we can date our own cousins.

"Yeah, he always hangs out with his teammates instead of making time for me, his girlfriend." She said as she crossed her arms together. I giggled lightly.

"What are you giggling about?" She asked.

"Just because he doesn't provide you time, doesn't mean he's a jerk, Kara." I said, "But instead of complaining, why won't you try to keep him off that stress, I notice Xander stressing about soccer and things, so why won't you like ask him out. Netflix and chill and stuff." I suggested, she was quiet for a moment then she said

"You're right, and maybe I'll consider that suggestion." She said, I smiled,

" 'Atta girl." I said as I gave her a pat on her head.

"Don't do that." She said as she smacked my hand away, then we burst out laughing.
