Cold. Thats how Rin could describe that night. His breath came out in short puffs as his feet padded down the street. He couldn't sleep, so to get rid of the extra energy he had built up, he went for a run to the beach. He stopped when he reached a small bench that's up between the sidewalk and sandy beach.

He sat down, the cool wood creaking slightly under his weight. He glanced at the ocean, its waves crashing on the shore with a smack.
'Damn, the waves are really rough tonight.' He thought to himself. He sat there for a little while, waiting for is breathing to slow down.
As he was about to leave, something caught his eye. There was something... No... someone caught in the waves.

Without a second thought, Rin ran out across the beach, throwing off his shoes, shirt, and jacket. He dove into the water and fought his way towards the person. He called out to them, letting them know he was there to help them.

Dark clouds swirled in the sky above. Rain poured heavily. When Rin reached the person, he reached out to try to grab them, but found that it wasn't even a person, it was a log. Rin knew he was in trouble. He tried to fight his way back to shore, but found he was farther out than he thought.

Large waves slapped him around, pushing him down under the water. He resurfaced only to be pushed back down. He struggled to resurface again, but felt like he was going nowhere.

His lungs screamed for air his vision started to blur. Before he became completely unconscious, he could have sworn he saw a hand reached towards him...
