The Open Door

It was Friday, the thirteenth. The sky was full of tumultuous, ominous and ragged clouds. Crimson lightning and clapping thunders merged to a devastating scenery. The room was so dark and eerie. The light of the computer monitor blinked on and off. Gusts of chilly wind forced themselves through the window. My teeth were chattering and my limbs freezing as cold shivers went down my spine. The Conjuring was the movie I was watching on my smartphone.

"Cring... Cring..." The telephone buzzed on all of a sudden. It startled me and I jerked off my cozy bed. "Who would call in this unusual late time?" Thoughts rushed in my mind. The phone kept on ringing and I kept on thinking. At one time, I gave up and walked creepily with shivering fingers towards the phone and picked it up. "Hello?" I asked with a shaken voice and the phone hung up.

I was riveted to the spot, eyes widening with Hell burning in my nerves! "I'm coming!" the reply on the phone struck me hard on my brain. The voice felt so thin and evil. "Ding Dong!" The bell rang so loudly. The word kept on resonating in my mind and I couldn't notice the bell. It rang again. My pet dog, Bull, pulled the end of my pant to gain my attention. I didn't even realize that he was with me all the time. Finally, I came to my senses. Patting on my pet I looked towards the welcoming door when the bell rang for the third time. Strange thoughts crept in my body and I felt so numb to move.

Somehow I gathered enough courage and walked alarmingly to the door. I peeped through the door hole and it felt so... so blank. I tried to reach for the knob when my jerking fingers froze at the eleventh hour. It took me a whole bunch of determination and strength to turn the door knob. And when I did so, a shadowy figure jumped up on me and embraced me tightly. Without realizing who it was, I still hugged it. Pushing aside each other slowly we looked deep in each other's eyes to recall our golden memories. It was Sitti – my best friend and my only crush! I felt so relieved to see her as tears trickled down my fear-stricken cheeks. She tried to calm me with her rosy and amouring smile and caressing my cheeks she went inside the house. I flushed and when I turned back to close the door, a thin breeze flew by giving me the feeling of someone spying on us from the dark. Sitti, petting Bull, cried out, "C'mon, get here quick! The brazen love in my heart brought my attention to her and pushing the door, I rushed to her.

"It's been some long time. I wonder how many girlfriends you had by now." She kidded. "N-no... I don't. I mean never had any." I stammered. "You are so old now and you don't have any girlfriends?! What the heck?" She exclaimed. "You talk as if you had HUNDREDS of boyfriends." I winked. She replied, "Well, no. I never had any. But I do love someone except he never asked me out." She gave me a kinky look and getting seduced, I blushed and said, "I-I will get us some coffee. Wait." She came close to me and I got redder. Out of the blue, the thunders bolted loudly, flickering all the lights off and she embraced me very tightly out of fear.

It was so dark and eerie again. Time seemed to have frozen. Heavy winds chilled us up. Our hearts throbbed heavily. Our minds shrieked out in pain but we couldn't utter a thing. Strong! So strong the pull was. Vision was so foggy. "SITTI!!" I cried aloud. "NO! Please DON'T!!" Blood seemed to choke on my throat. I fell down. Hit hard on the ground. My hand fell on a pool of fluid and as I moved my hand, I felt another hand – so cold it was. At last, I fainted out as the last drop of tear poured down.

"Huff, huff" I exhaled and sighed so heavily when I jumped on my bed. "So, a nightmare, huh?" I focused on my sight and found myself sitting on the hospital room. "Wait, why am I in a hospital? No, no! I can't be happening! It was true... SITTIII!!" I shouted aloud until I choked, coughing, and lied on the bed. I kept on thinking. "Fault! It was all my fault. I noticed something strange. Sitti would still be alive if only I had been on guard. Murderer! Treacherous! He slipped in through the open door!" My eyes were bulging with red tears as I slowly fainted out to give my life up.
