The eighteen year old Padawan lowered her head as she waited for the Grand Master to begin the final part of the Knighting ceremony. Her eyes were focused on the tiled floor underneath her, her fists clenched as the shadow of the Jedi Grand Master holding his lightsaber appeared in her line of vision. She could hear the loud humming of the weapon that was considered her life, and she felt her breath hitch in her throat when the humming grew louder until it was right beside her left ear.

The teenage girl could see the light glow of the green lightsaber in Master Yoda's hands from the corner of her eye, and she waited as he then lowered the lightsaber onto Layna's right shoulder, subsequently cutting off the braid behind her ear, which served as a sign of the girl's status as a Jedi apprentice.

Now that she was officially a Jedi Knight starting this very moment, she didn't need that braid anymore as she had finally completed her training and today was the start of the dream that finally became a reality.

Today was the beginning of Layna Hale's days as a Jedi Knight, one that no longer served under her Master and held the title of a Padawan. She was now officially a Jedi, one like her late mother before her, and god knows how long she had been waiting for this moment to arrive, and now that it was finally here, she felt overwhelmed.

Layna leaned down to pick up the fallen braid and placed it in her pocket, straightening her back as her dark brown eyes met those of the Jedi Master Yoda. The wise Master nodded his head at the brunette girl, his golden eyes shining as he looked upon the girl with such kind eyes.

Layna's eyes met those of her Master's, whose emerald green color seemed to shine in the darkness and she could practically see the small smile her Master probably had on her face upon seeing her former Padawan knighted in front of the entire Council. She nodded firmly at the platinum haired woman whose smile only seemed to grow as she bowed her head slightly at the teenage girl.

The young Jedi searched the room, her gaze flickering to the faces of each of the Council members present for her Knighting but found herself missing the four Jedi she wished could see her right now.

She found herself missing her mother, the former Jedi Knight who had left the Order when she was pregnant with her, the woman who sacrificed so much in order for Layna to live.

She found herself missing Qui-Gon, the man who believed in her just as much as her mother believed in her, and the one person who managed to become a father figure to her, knowing that she's never experienced having her real one.

She found herself missing the two other Jedi as well, her two old friends - Obi-Wan and Anakin, who cannot be here today due to Anakin's training in a planet somewhere near the Mid Rim. She missed the man who became her brother figure and the boy she met all those years ago on Tatooine. These two meant the whole world to her, as they were the only other people she had grown to love and care about after all these years.

Layna turned her attention back to the Grand Master standing in front of her, before proceeding to bow to him slightly as a sign of respect. "Thank you, Master," she lifted her head slightly and watched as Master Yoda lifted a hand, pointing towards the door with a small smile on her face.

"Go now, you must, young Jedi."

With a nod, she turned back around and headed toward the exit of the Hall of Knighthood, knowing that the end of this Knighting meant the beginning of her life as a Jedi Knight. She knew that it was going to be tough, as she wasn't going to have her Master beside her anymore to oversee her training and to help her when the times are tough. She was going to have to become independent, but she wasn't going to rush this at all.

She still had the rest of her life ahead of her, this was just her first day as an official Jedi after all. She still had the rest of her days to come, and she was going to use all of them up in order to further to training. She vowed to make her mother and her Master Qui-Gon proud by becoming a Jedi worthy of recoginition, right before she exited the large hall made specifically for knighting those worthy of being labeled as Jedi Knight.

Just watch, I'm going to become a powerful Jedi for you two, I promise.
