I remember light. Yes, that's it, light. Great flashes of yellow and red, almost hypnotizing against the dark of the night. Then the noise. The noise was less pretty, less calming. Screeches of weary mechanics tore across the ship, pushing their rusting pistons to the limit. Clangs, sirens, and screams joined in.

Rather rude, I thought. It was the middle of the night, after all.

Then I felt the moisture hit my nose. Why on earth would there be water on a ship? This was most peculiar. I know Daddy had said not to get up and disturb him in the night, but to be fair I was having a horrible time sleeping and was very confused, and its not like anyone was sleeping in all this racket anyway. I sat up slowly, rubbing my sleepless eyes. Willing my eyelashes to part, looked at the room around me. Was that fire? Smoke and mist fill my lungs when I gasped at the sight before me.

I stand bolt upright, suddenly painfully aware that the beautiful ship I once knew was in tatters. My things were knocked all over the room. The light and noise were now growing unbearable overwhelming.
"Daddy?!??" I call out. He couldn't be that far. He said he would always stay by me. A forceful bang knocks the door down and sends me flying back into my bed post. Now with my head throbbing, I can see that the blow was a giant wave of water. I start to panic.
"Daddy? DADDY!" I hear no response, but I can't really hear anything anyway. I stumble to the door and run down the tattered corridor. The halls were suffocating with people and smoke, and copious amounts of water were throwing themselves onto the clearly sinking ship.
"Have you seen my father? Daddy! Have you seen a man in blue stripped-- stripped pajamas? Please, PLEASE! "
My cries were hopelessly lost in the surrounding chaos.
Before I knew it a women (I think) grabbed my arm and dragged me up the crumbling stairs to the disappointingly wet deck. It was at this point I remember not really remembering anything. There was a lot of yelling and orders and screams and general pandemonium, but I was in too much shock to notice anything. Honestly the next thing I recall is being knocked by a particularly zealous wave. Then I remember the sounds stopped, all muffled by a layer of infinite water blanketing me. No, compressing me. No, killing me. I vaguely recall think i about how funny the word "drowning" was as I sank lower and lower into the ocean while the choppy waves blurred and twisted the light into something almost beautiful. And I think that's when I blacked out.
