I slam my car's door shut in frustration from repeatedly trying to make the engine start.

It was 2:30 and everyone had gone home already.

I heard footsteps behind me and I quickly turn, but my face also quickly drops.

"What's wrong?" He says knowing I'll ask for a ride.

Nope. I have more pride than that.

I roll my eyes and turn back around, "Leave me alone."

"Seriously? Look who is giving off the bad vibes now." I could hear the tone in his voice was irritated and annoyed.

Or so I thought.

I think for a minute as I look at my broken down car. Why am I being stubborn in a situation like this??

I quickly turn and call out to him. "Wa-wait!"

He stops and looks at me with a gleam in his eye.

"Could you I guess maybe give me a ride?" I ask feeling like I lost this battle.

He raises his head a little at me and gives a smirk as he climbs onto his bike.

"Call a Uber sweetheart." He says before riding away.

I get so mad that I scream. Well he sure will be at the bottom of my liked people list. Actually no. He won't even be on it and he'll be so sad that he's not on it that'll he'll actually try to be nice to me to be on it.

Ohhh, what are you saying Emily? He wouldn't care less.

After I got home from a long ass walk, I throw myself on the couch. Can't believe I didn't have money to call a taxi or even an uber.

I sigh and hear my mother in the kitchen. I get up and walk in on her washing dishes.

"Good afternoon sweetie." She says to me without even turning around.

"Good afternoon." giving a gentle smile.

"How was school?" She asks looking up at me with her beautiful blue eyes and hair put back into a loose black ponytail.

I cringe at thinking about the day. She always ask this and I always give the same answer,"Lame." With a smirk.

She chuckles."Where's your car?" She asked looking out the window.

Again I think about Jake. " It wouldn't start so I walked."

She finishes the dishes and grabs a rag to dry her hands fully turning towards me. "You really should just take that thing apart and sell the parts and buy something new."

I gasp playfully and put my hand to my chest, "Mother! You're lucky Lucy wasn't here to hear that." I flip my hair as I turn dramatically and go up the stairs to my room.
(Btw , Lucy is the name of my car)
Just before I enter my room, my mom calls me back down, "Wait, Em come back down! You have a job tonight."

I tsk and slowly walk back downstairs. "Really mom. You were suppose to let me have my moment." I said with a fake sad expression.

She rolls her eyes and smiles shanking her head. " Someone called about an hour ago and asks if you could babysit their 3 year old daughter while they go out for their anniversary. They gave me their address and I wrote it down."

She pointed to a piece of paper that was on the fridge.

I nod," I'll head over at 5 and since it's not far, I'll walk." Not that I really have a choice.

I head to my room and my mom goes to get ready for work. She's a nurse and works the night shift every weekend and day shift during the week.

I get in the shower and get ready. I put on a black and white striped shirt, knee ripped skinny jeans, and adidas shoes.

I brush my hair and and don't even consider makeup. Grabbing my brown purse and phone I head out saying good bye to my mom.

"566...568....570" I say to myself as I look for the house. It was your typical gray town house with a cute white picket fence around it.

I walk up and knock on the door.

For what I thought was a model opens it and gives a smile that could light up a whole town.

Her smile makes me smile big too. " Hi! I'm Emily here to babysit your daughter."
