Waking up to the songs of the birds really fucking pisses me off. Heavy granite clouds drains the liveliness from the sky, once again leaving it lifeless with nothing but heavy rain, the howling wind uttering a foreign language, so gently yet with such great power it almost sounds like a whistle and alludes the thoughts that just maybe it's weeping secrets to the clapping thunder which seems to become louder and louder .Then again, this isn't anything unusual in this good for nothing town.
Gentle shivers flutter down my hunched spine as my bare pale feet gently touch the cold wooden floor boards. Stretching the knots out my muscles a large yarn is released from my chapped lips. Strands of my thick black hair dripping from my messy bun to my blurred eyes, making the struggle to see even more.
"Better get this shit done with then" I utter to myself under the warmth of my breath as I make my way to my kitchen. Living alone has its advantages and disadvantages; it doesn't bother me though. Not much does nowadays.
Steam rises as the black metal kettle reaches its boiling point, careful not to burn my self I pour the steaming hot water into my favourite black coffee cup, adding two sugars and milk. Softly blowing on the surface of the liquid causing slight ripples, I begin to drink, sighing as the satisfaction fills me.
Approaching my living room with my hot beverage I relax sinking into the softness of my feather filled pillows and cushioned seat, The room holds no colour besides the dim screen light from the distant tv opposite me. I ponder in my thoughts for a while before switching the blank pixilated tv screen to the news.
"The so called night whisperer strikes again, this time what happens to be a young girl and a male have been found brutally murdered in the local forest of -"
A grand clash of thunder along side a blinding spark of lightening takes to the sky as well as echoing throughout the emptiness of my living room cutting the power, leaving me incomplete darkness with no company but the late November cold kissing at my limbs slowly numbing my body as the seconds pass by.
Most people would feel some type of anger or frustration, perhaps... anxiety. But me ? No, I feel nothing. Nothing but the icy touch from the bitter cold attacking my skin whilst the warmth of my sweet tea tingles my slightly blue lips leaving a trail of warmth behind.
Tick. Tick .Tick .Tick. I turn and glance to the right at the ticking clock hanging lonely on the pale washed out cream wall. Patiently waiting till the power comes back on. 5 minutes pass, then 10 and soon after 30, till eventually it becomes an hour and my once warm cup of sweet tea in my favourite black coffee cup has turned cold and empty, My pinched fingers tense and un-tense continuously in attempt to prevent them from stiffening any more then they already have.
3:46. The times is exactly 3:46 and the date, Thursday 17th November 2021. I'm Amber there's nothing special about me I'm shy, Reserved and not very popular. Never have been, never will be. 'You lack excitement' is what people often tell me. What can I say ? I don't see the fun or interest in doing stuff people my age normally do or maybe it's the fact that I've never had the chance to fully try it. Either way... It doesn't matter. Because today is just another day.
