I Say Goodbye
Chapter 1
Friday,September 1, 2006
There was a tapping on my door. Just as I turned off my iPod, my bedroom door swung open.
"We're going to the beach," Ryan said. My seventeen year old twin brother had a glint in his eyes that I could just tell he was up to something.
"Now?"I asked. "It's eleven at night."
"Ex-act-ly!"said another boy's voice as his head entered my bedroom doorway.
"Justin!"I shrieked. "What are you doing here? In my bedroom?!"
Justin, nonchalantly wearing a fitted white crew t-shirt and jean shorts, leaned even more nonchalantly in my bedroom.
"Niceroom," he said. "It fits you."
I looked incredulously from him to Ryan. "Wait. The beach? How are we getting there? Do Mom and Dad know?" I kept my voice at a whisper level.
"They're cool with it." Justin said, answering for Ryan, as Ryan shrugged and nodded. No big deal. Justin stared right at me. "So? You coming or no?" His hazel eyes seemed to stare right through me.
Self-consciously, I tucked my brown hair behind my ears and tied up my hair in a ponytail. "You boys are seriously too much..." I muttered as I got off my bed and grabbed a hoodie from the hooks behind my bedroom door. I could feel Justin's eyes on me. Realizing I still had my pajama pants on and a fitted light blue t-shirt I used to sleep in, I said, "Do you mind if I change?"
I realized that I was only talking to Justin. Ryan must have walked away to change also. He had been in his pajamas, I think.
Justin didn't answer, but only gave a crooked smile.
"What?" I asked.
"Don't change," he said, eyeing my pajama pants which were navy blue with light yellow snitches from Harry Potter on them. "Cute pajama pants."
I squinted at him. "Oh shut up."
"No really. I like them. Do you have an invisibility cloak that could help us sneak to the beach at night?"
I rolled my eyes. "No matter how annoying you are, I will admit, due to my obsessive Harry Potter disorder, that that would actually be a very helpful item to use right now."
Justin smiled. Then he tilted his head to the side. "But really, Kassy. You don't need to change. It's just us. Ryan's in his pajamas, too. Pretty much everyone is except me."
