Chapter 1- Moving

'KNOCK KNOCK'
The loud sound of my mum knocking on my door awakened me.
"DALIA!!! OPEN UP!!"
I quickly peel off my sheets and race to my door before she makes anymore unnecessary loud screams.
My mother groans and looks around my room, which still needs to be packed.
"Dalia you have two hours to pack the rest of your stuff. We are leaving at 2pm. You're father has an appointment at 4pm"
She blankly looks at me then leaves. This is horrible; Leaving my hometown and friends forever. Sometimes I wish this town had a better medical centre for my father but I guess maybe a new change in my life might be good.
Glancing around my plain room, I sigh. I place my stuff into my suitcase and fold my blankets. I take my suit case and pillow down to the car before returning to my room to finish off my two boxes of things. Holding a cracked photo frame of my family a tear falls down my cheek.
"Dalia..."
My little sisters voice cracked. I turned to her wiping my tears before she could notice my sudden outburst of emotion.
"Dalia, are you crying...?" She pulled me in a hug. Breathing deeply I pulled away after a long minute or so.
My sister Mae was 15, two years younger than me. She is like my bestfriend and the only person I can count on. Since our father got sick 6 months ago, we have become closer then ever.
"I don't wanna move Mae.." Sobbing into my palms.
This isn't right; I shouldn't feel like this. Its for the good of my fathers health which is weakening more everyday.
"We have too, Its for dad"
She's right; I need to stop being so ignorant. Its my fathers life at sake here!
Mae finished helping me pack my boxes and carried them to the car for me, while I said my last goodbyes to the room/house I grew up in.
"Dalia!! We are ready. The car is packed"
My mother called. I sighed.
This is it, my big life changer.
"Dalia" I turned around and wrapped my arms around my loving mum.
"Come on honey, We have to get on the road now"
We both walked to the car in silence.
Dad was in the passenger side with his oxygen tank and heart monitor connected to his sick body. Lucky this move will result in dad getting the medical care he needs to survive.
I hoped in and grabbed hold of Mae's hand. The car started to drive back and before I knew it we were on our way.
I wonder what this will be like...
***2 hours later***
The car came to an abrupt stop and we all piled out the car.
Mum told dad to wait in the car, as they were on there way to dads appointment.
I looked around and gasped. The house was simple yet modern. It was nice!
The front had a lovely garden filled with luscious green plants and colourful flowers. I breathed in the air, it smelt sweet and calming.
I think this is a wonderful place for us to live. It feels like it has good karma surrounding it. Karma was something I had a strong connection with.
Good comes to those who do good.
Bad comes to those who do bad.
I felt like it was simple and easy as that.
Im still waiting for the good to come to my dad, as I don't understand why he's receiving the bad. He doesn't deserve what he's going through.
He always sits with me at night and tells me what it feels like.
What it feels like not being able to breath on his own and having to watch his heart rate.
Swallowing 5 tables 3 times a day or how he has to live with the pain when his lungs get filled with water. He's told me it feels like a fish out of water slowly dying.
I hope this new house will bring some good to him and our family.
"Here are the keys. Start unpacking and the room with my bags in it, is your fathers and my room" Mum handed me the set of gold keys and she left us with all the bags and boxes in the drive way. Great!
