Cry Me to Sleep (part II)

It has been three weeks since you and Dan kissed under the oak tree and became a couple. Everything had been perfect, up until now. Dan wanted to meet your parents, but you knew that your dad did not want you dating anyone anytime soon. So when Dan asked you your answer was, of course, no. "Why not Y/N?!" Dan said after you told him no for the seventh time that week. As usual you answered "It's complicated." He had obviously gotten tired of that answer because he usually said "fine," but this time he changed it. "Everytime I ask to meet your parents you always say that, but what does it mean?" he questioned, his voice rising a notch. You try not to get mad at him questioning you so you answer in a calm voice "It means that I'm not ready and I don't think you're ready either." You realized what you just said as soon as it came out of your mouth, but you did not mean for it to sound that way. "Did you just say I wasn't good enough to meet your parents?!" now Dan was mad, his voice was very loud and his neighbors could probably hear him, but at least his flatmate Phil was out of the house. "Dan I swear I didn't mean it like that," you say your voice starting to rise a little. Dan's voice softens to a low growl when he says "Then what exactly did you mean by saying that?" You are hesitant before you answer because you want to say it in a way that won't hurt his feelings. In a soft voice you finally reply "My dad doesn't want me to date anyone and if I want to he said he has very high standards. He also hates the new age of technology, especially YouTube. He said if I ever happen to actually meet a YouTuber to just walk away and not say anything. That's what I meant by you're not ready to meet my dad." Dan waits a couple of seconds before answering in a normal pitched voice "It doesn't matter what your dad thinks of us. What would your mom think?" Tears are forming in your eyes as you tell him this next part "Me and my mom went on a trip to the U.S. three years ago. I was supposed to be with her, but I met a guy and we went on a date. And while I was having fun my mom was driving and a car slammed into her at an intersection. She's dead." Dan was very quiet for the next few minutes until he finally started to say something "Y/N I am so sorry, I didn't-" You yell at him "It doesn't matter! She's dead and that's the past! Now you see why I didn't want you to meet my parents! I hope you're happy." You quickly gather your things and run out of his flat, tears spilling down your face and Dan yelling your name.

Five days. That's how long it has been since you talked to Dan. He has been calling and texting you to apologize, but you haven't been able to answer him quite yet. You have been curled up in your room crying for those five days. No one has interrupted you until you hear a knock at the door and that beautiful voice that you love call your name "Y/N?" You decide it is finally time to get out of bed and face Dan. You call out "Be there in a minute." Before you open the door you put on an old tee-shirt over your tank top, brush out your hair, and decide to keep on your red and black plaid pj pants. You wipe away the rest of your tears as you open the door to reveal the brown fringe and sparkling brown eyes that immediately make you feel better. He walks into your lounge with you right behind him. You sit on the sofa and he sits in the chair across from you. He is about to speak and apologize, but you stop him "Dan it's my fault. I should've been calmer when I told you that and I shouldn't have just walked out angry. I am so sorry that I haven't answered you, I just needed time alone and I didn't know what to say to you. And do not try and argue with me because we both know that I'm right. Please forgive me." Dan gets out of his seat and walks over to you. He grabs your hand and pulls you up just as you had when he was sitting under the oak on your first date. "I will always forgive you Y/N," he says as he closes the gap between you.

Hey thank you for almost 40 reads! I know that is not that much, but I'm hoping for more in the future. Expect one or two more parts to this story before I conclude it.    -Rach
