When you're young and free to play
You're cute, get attention, but have nothing to say
As you grow, you start having fun
Chasing round, and chewing gum
Always thinking, your heart is pure
What are they looking at? You're insecure
Now you have thoughts, and your own ideas
But they're eaten away by your worries and fears
You could talk and share my thoughts
But nobody will listen, not even a jot
Waking up it's dark you're in school all day
On your way home the skies are grey
All your efforts are spent there
About your life? They don't even care...
As long as you get the grades they want, they will keep you sweet
One slip up and you're in the trash, like a worthless piece of meat
Fight back, prove them wrong and speak what's in your mind
You never know, if you're bold enough you just might change mankind
For it's not test results that show who you are
It's what's inside that helps your rise to power
Fighting, working every day to be at your very best
Fighting, fighting, with every breath, to put your demons to rest
But you can win and beat them down
Stand, rise up and wear that crown
You've heard the whispers, the ones that doubt
In the end we'll see who'll cry and who'll shout
Now you've the money to do what you want but just don't have the time
You wish you'd woken up, you wish you'd seen the signs
For you'll be you, and be your best and strive to be the one
As the years roll on you'll start having less and less fun
For all this time will take it's toll, as you slowly deteriorate
You'll have the time and money to live your dreams but your body won't cooperate
When you were young and full of life you just didn't have the dough
"I will work to get it all as I age and grow"
Now you're sitting all alone, with ideas and places to be
"I stand up and try to walk, but my legs won't carry me"
Why have enough riches to buy a limo when you'll be riding alone
All the people you've cast aside to sit on your golden throne
So work hard, yes, and prove them wrong but you must not forget
And family and friends to share it with and your life will be set
Oh! Well done, you've reached the top, but I don't see anyone stare
Because you've ignored all who loved you, no-one even cares
Take your child-like fun and joy with you all your days
Work of course, be your best, but don't forget to play
Make good friends and family too, together you will stay
Not in school in the sunny hours, with them you can share these days
So you'll look back at the memories you made
Instead of looking at gold and riches that fade
