(Valentina aka Tiny)
Valentina's POV
Here's the thing, if I told you 2 years ago, on the night my family died. You would think I was crazy. But true, it all started after watching The X Games.
Flashback
"Lol, Tiny how amazing was that movie!" My best friend Glimmer laughed.
We stumbled out of the movie theater, blinded by the light of the sun. "Ughh Im soooo tired!" "I feel like Fletcher!" I sighed falling onto my friend.
"Hey tiny, you know it's just a nickname!" Glimmer screeched as we fell down together.
I was called Tiny, because of my name Valentina. But really I was a short, over weight girl, with ugly red hair and light brown eyes.
However Glimmer fit her profile perfectly. She was tall and slim. She had perfect voluminous black hair that fell between her shoulder blades. Her eyes were hazel, with a streak of silver making it glimmer even more than usual.
I had always been jealous of her.
"Hey tiny can I sleep over your house!" Glimmer said igniting her truck.
"Sure!"
We drove off in silence after that.
Flashback End
Now that was a day to remember. Not only do I remember falling in love for the main character of the movie, but also going home to a house engulfed in flames. Ambulance and firefighters encircled the block.
I took another sip of my beer, before looking back at the tombstones.
Here lies the body of Piper Vivian Rose
It did not include excellent mother and wife. She was a hardworking woman, always producing for her kids, before herself.
Next to the tombstone was the name
Noel Jackson Rose
Sweet little Noel. Only 8 years old, but smarter than your average high schooler. He could figure out a complex math problem in seconds, de-activate a bomb, and be happy. But all of those things were destroyed when the fire passed through.
"Fuck this!" I screamed, breaking the empty beer bottle against a tombstone. I started crying and I don't know why. The blood from my hand mixed in with the tears and stung like hell.
"You gotta take care of yourself, cuz no one else gonna do it!" I said to no one in particular.
And it's true for the past 2 years that's the motto I lived by.
