"I wish you would leave forever," I shouted to my brother, "Stay out of my life!" One thing led to another... before I knew it, he was gone. I will miss him forever and always.

My name is Miranda Arisett. I lost someone very important to me- Christopher Arisett, or Chris, my older brother. He was my favorite out of the six brothers I call family. I didn't mean what I said, honest, but I was just so mad at him! He read my diary, almost beat up my boyfriend, and practically ruined my 16th birthday. Well, let's just say you better be careful what you wish for.

I cried myself to sleep that night. On my way to bed, I found out that in recent hours he had left for a party and was in a car accident on his way home. The ambulance rushed him to the hospital, and he died an hour later in a lonely hospital room. The other driver who hit him was drunk and went through a red light. Chris's friends, Matt and Kevin, were badly bruised but made it through the unexpected crash okay. I was so angry with myself. It was my fault that Christopher Nicholas Arisett was dead and never coming back.

He was seventeen and was planning to go to college at the University of Pittsburgh next year. He had a loving girlfriend named Clarissa. Chris was my brother, mentor, and most importantly, my best friend. I don't know how I can get along without his smile, laughter, and over-all goodness to the people he loved.

The next morning of the accident, my best friend, who's practically my sister, texted me.

Sarah: Hey!

Me: Sarah..

Sarah: What's wrong?

Me: Its Chris... Hes...

Sarah: He's what? What happened? Miranda.

Me: He died last night.

Sarah: I'm coming over now.

Sarah came straight over. She was an amazing best friend. Sarah was always there when I needed her, and at that moment I needed her the most. KNOCK KNOCK! I started downstairs when the door flew open. She dropped everything she was holding and darted across the room to give me a hug. Max, my boyfriend and Sarah's brother, came in right behind her. After Sarah finished her bear hug, she asked how I was doing. Tears began rolling down my face.

"I'm okay, I guess" I replied trying not to choke on my own tears.

"Aw sweetie, it'll be ok. We're here for you." Sarah answered softly.

Max came over to me, kissed my forehead, and pulled me close. "Miranda I'm so sorry, and Sarah's right. We're here for you. We always will be. You know I love you." Max said sweetly.

"I love you too. And thanks guys, it means a lot."

My mom, looking like a mess, came down stairs. I had never seen her like this, ever.

"Hi Mom." I said to her.

I gave her a hug and wiped her tears.

"Hi Mrs. Arisett, we're so sorry." Sarah and Max both said in unison. They also joined in on the hug.

"Thanks guys. Do you kids want something to eat?" she replied as she recovered from her tears.

Sarah replied, "No thank you. We were actually wondering if you two wanted to go out to lunch and get your mind off things with my mom, Max, and me?"

"I'm okay. I think I'm going to stay here. But Miranda you can go if you want to."

"Ok thanks mom. I'll go get ready. Sarah, want to come upstairs?" I asked. I definitely needed my best friend's help with getting myself back to one piece.

"Sure. Max we'll be right back," Sarah told her brother.

"Alright." Max answered as he casually sat down on the living room couch.

Sarah and I walked upstairs to my bedroom. I grabbed shorts, a tank top, and my jacket. Then I went to change in the bathroom.

I walked into the bathroom and saw Chris's toothbrush and a picture of him and me after his birthday party. As warm tears started running down my face, I quickly grabbed a tissue. When I left the bathroom Sarah saw me in the hallway and gave me another hug promising everything will get better.

I finished getting ready and walked back into my room. Memories of Chris flooded back into my head. I needed to get out of the house and fast.

"Let's go. I'm ready. Where are we going?" I asked Sarah.

"It's a surprise. Just get into the car, you can sit next to Max in the back." Sarah replied knowing that would make me feel better.

As we walked downstairs, Max met us at the bottom of the steps.

"You guys ready to go?" he said to us.

"Yeah one sec. Mom? We're leaving. I'll call you when I'm coming home!" I yelled.

"Ok sweetie. Have fun!" she called to us as we were walking through the front door.
