Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a prince named Chab. Chab lived in a tower, locked up by Charles the cruel. Charles used the hair on Chab's arms to make clothes for his family. Chab was malnourished. He hardly ate or drank, and when he did he only got leftover scraps. He felt as if all his energy went into growing his arm hair. Nothing much happened in the tower. Guards made sure Chab didn't escape. After a few weeks Charles would come and take his arm hair. One day, however, something out of the ordinary happened. The door opened, which was strange at the time. His arm hair had just been shaved 2 days ago. A woman walked through. The only woman he'd ever seen was his mother.
"Greetings, strange man. Who are you? Father is away and I wanted to see what he's been hiding in this tower," The woman said.
"My name is Chab. Who are you? And who is your father?" Chab asked
"My name is Chora the Cheese Chef, daughter of Charles the Cruel," Chora said.
Chab looked at the woman. She didn't have the same hateful glare that Charles had.
"Would you mind bringing me some food and drink?" Chab asked.
Chora nodded, and left the room. Perhaps Chora could be Chab's ticket to escaping the tower. He'd focus on becoming friends with Chora for now. The food Chora brought back to Chab was amazing. It was well cooked, had actual flavor, and wasn't cold. It was the best food Chab had ever had. Chab and Chora would spend the next few weeks talking while Charles was off fighting. After 1 month, Chora knew her cloak was made from Chab's arm hair. Chab knew that Chora was trapped in the manor as well. Chora and Chab made a plan to escape. While Chora wasn't allowed to leave, she was allowed to roam the grounds of the manor. The plan was for Chora to show up outside the tower at midnight. Chab would throw down his extremely long arms. Chora would climb into the tower. Since her father owned the manor, she was entrusted with the key. She would unlock the door. Then they would sneak out of the manor, using the crops for cover. They started that very night. Chora was able to get a meal to Chab that day, so he would be able to stay awake until midnight. When midnight hit, Chora arrived the tower.
"Chab! Release your arms! Quickly now!" Chora yelled.
Chab , who had his arms bunched up already, ran at the window and threw his arms out. He could feel Chora climbing up his left arm, so held his right arm under her in case she fell. Chora made it into the tower. She quietly walked over to the door and opened it. Chab followed, trying not to drag his arms too far behind him. They started rushing over to the crops, when a man on a horse stared right at them.
"THE ARM MAN! HE HAS ESCAPED!"
Chab and Chora ran as fast as they could. Chora raced ahead, but Chab's long arms slowed him down.
"I AM GENERAL CHADRICK! IN THE NAME OF CHARLES THE CRUEL STOP RIGHT THERE!" The horse man yelled again.
Chab turned around and hurled his arms at the horse's legs. The horse tripped over, and Chadrick shook his fist. They had escaped the manor!
2 Weeks after their escape, Chab and Chara were uneasy. They had been making their way through the woods. They heard strange noises. Bushes rustling with no animals. Whispers. Then low ominous noises from the sky. Then one day, as Chab and Chara were about to stop to gather food for lunch, something passed over the sun. It almost looked like a giant bird. It's skin was covered in scales. A dragon. It circled over them, then stopped. It spoke in a low voice.
"I am the dragon of Charles the Cruel. He sent me to be trained with General Chaddrick. I am here now. You both have betrayed master Charles. I will end you now!"
The dragon faced them, opened its mouth, and set the forest ablaze. Chab and Chora ran out of forest, taking a slight breath of relief...
..Only to find that they were in a dry field of grass.
So now they were running from a grass fire!
"What are we going to do?!" Chora screamed
"I have an idea! Distract the beast!" Chab yelled back.
Chab let down his, untangling knots here and there.
"Chora, thorw my arms at the beast!" Chab yelled, arms fully loose.
Chora launched first the left arm, then the right. Chab was able to grab onto the dragon's neck. He grabbad on, as hard as he could. He started tugging on the dragon left and right. Trying to reel him in, then. Then he'd try pulling him into the forest. The main goal being to disorient him. Eventually the beast spoke again, in a much higher voice.
"I give up! I never wanted to fight! Let me go!"
Chab let go of the dragon, and he flew away. He had beaten a dragon! The next few weeks, they were just as tense as before. Even more rustling in the bushes. Messages scratched in trees that read "YOU WILL PAY." or "YOU'RE NEVER SAFE." After talking to a few travelers, they had found out they were near a city. Their plan was to make it to the city, and hide there. The very day they first saw buildings from the city, a voice came from behind them.
"Hello, daughter."
Chab and Chora wheeled around..it was Charles!
Charles drew his sword and charged! Chab threw his arms at Charles's feet, tripping him. Charles got up quickly, and pinned Chab to the ground. Chab was getting absolutely pummeled. He was able to wrap his arms around Charles, and squeezed him so tightly he almost popped. Just before he did, he threw him to the side, and ran all the way to the city with Chora. For 3 days time they were safe, but on the 4th day in the city, they woke up to find an army outside the city gates. Towering above it was the very tower Chab had been kept in. Chab and Chara hid in the city for 2 more days, when Chab marched out to meet Charles face to face.
"Charles! Come face me! I have something to tell you! NOW!"
Charles appeared out of the window of Chab's tower.
"Come home, Chab! My family needs new clothing, and your arm hair is so soft!"
Chab was angered. Why would he return to his awful life after all he'd done to escape it? Chab wrapped his arms around the tower. Then he pulled so hard, the tower broke in half. Charles got up from the rubble and faced Chab.
"What do you want, Chab?" Charles asked.
"Our feud must end. It has caused suffering to too many people. Your daughter is scared, the good people of this city fear for their homes and lives, your men are weary from marching so far. I think it is time for a new partnership between us, can we be friends, Charles?" Chab asked.
Charles thought for a moment, then said, "All right, Chab. I now see how far this has gone. I will call off the siege right now. You can live at the manor, and leave at any time. I'm glad we are friends, Chab."
Charles was no longer known as Charles the Cruel, but as Charles the Great. Chab was a free man, and gave his arm hair to poor families. Chora was also free, and took up a career in cheesemaking. All 3 went on to live happy lives together, in friendship.
