It was like a heart monitor going astray, without the normal steady beep. The line went dead, and her heart could've too. But she still had faith. The faith that Bruce Banner would return.
Natasha Romanoff had many names. Assassin, Agent, Avenger. That's what she dreamt, after all.
"That I was an Avenger. That I was nothing more than the assassin I was made to be."
Not a dream, but more like a freakish nightmare. He was there. There to soothe her. There to care. There to relate. There to love. He just thought about the impossibility of it all. No couple, no family, no love...it was a fantasy to him.
"I can't have this...kids. Do the math, I physically can't."
"...Neither can I."
Then the moment where they last spoke, madam between gentleman, quickly switched to warrior and beast. Nat thought all for the best. They needed the Hulk. She needed the Hulk.
"I adore you...but I need the other guy."
The beautiful sight where everyone was safe. Ultron was defeated. But someone was missing, no they needed to be reeled in. That last moment of persuasion, that last moment for a lullaby. The beast was soothed, but took its chance to escape. And he was gone.
"He'll send a postcard."
"Wish you were here."

"Hey, the recruits are waiting on you." Steve said from outside Natasha's dorm. "And you cannot skip another day."
"I say you're doing just fine all by your lonesome. You're a natural born leader." Natasha retorted.
"But I can't do it all by myself. Even leaders need help."
"You sure about that, or are you just trying to get me up?"
"Well...a little bit of both I suppose."
"Five minutes tops."
"We'll be waiting."
With that said, Steve left for training. Like Natasha said, she'd go down shortly. Thoughts were just rapid in her mind about what had happened to Bruce. She didn't show her emotions too much, but she felt saddened and empty, like she was missing a half of her. Once she cleansed the emotions from the outside, she stepped out from her dorm ready for training at the new Avengers base.
So, I guess this is short, but I wrote it to be more inspiring and to give you a background of what happened. The real fun will begin a few chapters in or so. Stay tuned!
