"What subject have you got first?" Christie asked me.
"I have home ec What about you?" I asked her back
"Maths...." she said with a groan
"It's not fair that we have to start classes on our first day of term"
"I know, it's so annoying! Anyway, see you later"
"Yeah, see you" I replied as Christie walked down the hall. I turned around and walked towards the Home Ec rooms. As I arrived, I began to unpack my ingredients onto the workbench. I had milk, eggs, flour and countless other ingredients ready to make my cupcakes.
As I had just put the cupcakes in the oven, the teacher walked over and said
"They look funny"
"Well I followed the recipe exactly, so they should be fine" I said with a slight mocking tone in my voice
"OK, OK, just put them in the oven"
So that's what I did. And 30 minutes later the oven went 'ding' and I removed my cupcakes from the oven. To me they smelt like cinnamon and nutmeg, but the odd thing was, neither of those ingredients were in the cupcakes. My teacher walked over and asked me
"Did you put mint in the cupcakes?"
"No" I replied, not being able to smell any mint at all.
"Oh, well, ok then" she said as she walked off. At this point I was wondering if she had gone slightly loopy in the head. The bell rang loudly at that exact moment, so I walked to my next class.
After English, I walked to my locker to meet Christie. After we put our books away, we began chatting.
"I didn't know you were making chocolate cupcakes" Christie said puzzled
"I didn't! They're just normal vanilla cupcakes!" I shouted almost loud enough for the whole hallway to hear. As if it was planned, Brody, the grade heartthrob (who Christie had a crush on forever!), walked over and said
"Vanilla cupcakes, can I have one?" I reluctantly said yes as I wasn't sure how they tasted because I hadn't tried them yet. As I was getting the cupcakes out of my locker Brody said
"Hey Kirstie". She melted to the floor even though he got her name wrong.
"Hey Brody" she said embarrassed "It's actually Christie"
"Whatever" he replied as if he didn't really care.
So I handed Brody a cupcake, gagging on how shallow my best friend can be, and as he took a bite he said
"Mmmmm, these are really good, are there macadamias in them?"
"Yeah, suuurrrrre" I replied sarcastically. He them blinked a few times, and began to rub his eyes. Christie and I just stood there, really confused. He bent over, as if he was in pain, but then he stood up, opened his eyes, and stared at Christie for a bit.
"See you round" he said to Christie with a wink. I just stood there puzzled.
"What just happened?" I asked Christie.
"You know just as much as I do" she replied.
Later that day, Christie found a note in her locker it read:
Roses are red, violets are blue, Christie I love you, do you love me too?
She just turned to me and said
"Can I see the cupcake recipe you used?" I had no idea what she was getting at, but I got her the recipe. She studied it thoroughly and finally said this to me
"The cupcakes you made, weren't vanilla"
"Then what were they?" I asked her
"They were partly vanilla," she started "but they had a love potion inside!"
