Quiet sobs echoed throughout the lab. Past the many huge computers and racks of softly glowing bottles. A man sat in a chair hooked up to hundreds of cords and wires. They were attached all over him - to his arms, neck and head - sewn into his skin. His eyes were fixated on the computer screens, watching people walk about laughing and enjoying themselves.  'What right,' he thought, 'did they have to have fun while he was here day after day, keeping them safe?' To him it didn't matter much. Let them enjoy themselves while they had the chance.
