The bright light shone onto my face. Is it really morning? Can't I sleep a while longer? I waited for a bit, and finally decided to get up from my warm bed.

I went to my bathroom and got undressed to take a shower. The hot water ran down my body and I relaxed. The aroma of my soap filled the air. I finished washing myself and got out of the shower.

I got dressed, did my hair, and got my daily routine done and over with. I left my room.

The sound of people downstairs caught my attention. There usually wasn't that much commotion normally, especially in the morning.

I went into the mess hall and saw Eren and Jean arguing over something. It looked like they were really into it.

"Maybe next time you should watch where you're going!" Eren yelled.

"Watch where I'm going? You're the one who ran into me!" Jean yelled back.

Oh, they are just arguing over something silly. I went over to the tea and poured myself a cup. I was never a fan of the food here, so most of my meals consist of black tea and bread.

I went to a table and started drinking my tea. I bet today will be just another day. We will eat breakfast, train for hours, eat lunch, train for more hours, clean the whole HQ, eat dinner, and go to bed. The same cycle.

It gets very old after a while. I sighed and took another sip of my tea. Just another day. I glanced around the mess hall and I met eyes with Corporal.

He looked away immediately and I got surprised for a second, then got back to my calm state. Was he staring? Don't know. I stared out of the window next to me. The birds were chirping sweetly and sun was low in the sky.

Breakfast finished a while later, and everyone went outside to train. It was kind of chilly outside, which didn't mind me much, but I never liked the cold.

"Oi (y/n)!" I heard someone say. I looked over to see Armin. I gave him a small smile.

"Morning, Armin." I said quietly.
"Were Eren and Jean fighting over something stupid today?"

"Yes, they were. Jean accidentally ran into Eren and they started making a huge scene."

"Ah, I see."

We got to the supply room where most of our equipment stays. I put on my gear and went outside to train. Today, Squad Leader Hanji is going to do some sort of exercise with us. I saluted and waited for instructions.

"We're going to have a contest!" she said excitedly. "Whoever kills the most titan dummies wins!"

Sounds easy enough. Just kill as many titans as possible and try to win.

"Get ready, set, go!"

I ran into the forest and glided into the air with my 3DMG gear. In the air once again. Will it ever get old? No because the feeling of flying is amazing.

I saw a titan dummy straight ahead. I pulled out my blades and did a clean hit on the fake nape. There were plenty more around. I flew to each one of them.

"Two, three, four, five..." I counted.

I kept going from dummy to dummy and kept killing them. This went on for a while until Hanji called us back to regroup. I gripped onto my blades tighter and cut one more nape.

I hit too hard, for the blade got stuck on the wood under the nape.

"This isn't good." I muttered to myself.

I retracted my lines and tried to pull out the blade. It was really stuck in there. I kept trying to pull it out.

"Cadet (l/n), what the hell are you doing?"

I looked down at the ground and saw Corporal. He looked up at me and crossed his arms.

"My blade is stuck in the wood, sir." I said.

He sighed and came up to where I was. He frowned at the sight of the blade.

"Tch, you need to learn how to be more careful." he said pulling out the blade with a simple tug.

"I will be more careful next time, sir. Sorry for the trouble." I said jumping down off the dummy.

I landed on my feet and started to walk back to HQ. Hanji was jumping excitedly. I went to everyone and her.

"What is going on?" I asked Mikasa.

"She is looking at the tally marking for who killed the most titans." she replied.

I nodded and saluted. Hanji looked straight at me.

"(y/n) is our winner!" she said happily.

I raised my eyebrows.

"(y/n) got 17 and Mikasa got 16! That was a close one!" she came to me and patted my head. "Good job."

We were told to spar afterwards and I ended up having to fight Jean. He threw a punch at me and I quickly dodged. I kept the knife close by me. This went on for hours.

Sparing was the one part of training I never fully enjoyed or understood. Everyone knows how to defend themselves with or without training.

This is something the Military Police should be working on. Heck, even the Garrison should do this, but not the Scouts. We were meant to kill titans not fight humans.

I kicked Jean in the stomach and he fell to the ground. He groaned in pain.

"Good game." I said holding out my hand.

"You're lucky that you are a girl," he said grabbing my hand. I helped him get up. "If you weren't, then I would've beat your ass."

I smiled and we started walking to the mess hall for lunch. I started to feel the craving to light up a cigarette. My little addiction is very nagging, but I control it.

"I'm staying outside." I said. Jean looked at me and nodded.

I leaned against the vine covered walls and pulled out a cigarette and a match. I lit up the cigarette and put it in my mouth. The taste of the poison pleased my craving.
I know its bad for me, but I still do it. Only the cadets know of this little thing because if the Commander or Corporal saw me doing this they would probably make me stop.

Mainly Corporal. The Commander is very relaxed, so he wouldn't care much.

I took a deep breath and blew out the grey smoke. I tapped the end of the cigarette and let the ash drop to the ground.

I stood there for a while until my cigarette was at the end of its short life. I threw it on the ground and stepped on it.

"1,367." I said.

I pulled out another match and cigarette.

"1,368."
