He lifted his eyes to me.

I was taken aback by his stare.

Like he knew me, like he knew what I was supposed to do before I saved his life.

"Hi!" The stranger said with a deep, strong voice. "I'm Ray."

Piper

I waited for Shelly for almost an hour already.

She is my best friend ever since, she is also quite aware that patience is a virtue I've never had and yet she has some guts to do this. My God! I just hope that I will not burst out the moment she arrives.

Time check 8:50 p.m.

Being late is something she couldn't afford so I'm kinda wondering what happened to her. This girl never failed to amuse me.

I was already worrying when I caught sight of her. Okay, she's with a guy.

I walk towards them as they suddenly stopped and talked to each other.

I hate to meddle into people's business but I'm really pissed off right now so I think at least I have the right to act like a bitch, at least this once.

I call her name out loud and I give her a can-you-explain-this-to-me look with a matching fake smile.

She never answered. I was about to lose my composure when I saw it.

The strings.

The strings of destiny as I call it.

I don't really understand it at first but I figured it out as I grew older. Mom and dad doesn't have this strings but mom and Juan have it. Just like what dad said, there is only one person destined to be your partner in your whole lifetime. I know it sounds weird and unrealistic at first, but I can't deny that this is true because I am 100 percent correct when it comes to matchmaking. I know who will end up together and I know who will not. I was like this for as long as I can remember, I always see strings of destiny everywhere. I just don't get into people business and act like a cupid because seriously, nobody will believe me anyway. They will only laugh at me and think that I am crazy.

"Piper! Piper! Hello?"

Shelly was already on my face.

Shit! I was over thinking that I already forgot I'm angry.

"I'm here. And just to let you know, I'm not that cool with you being late yet so you better explain things first. Where is your boyfriend by the way?"

I never noticed the guy leaving though, what a rude guy.

"Are you kidding me? He is not my boyfriend and not even my type. He lives across the street when we were younger, we just met at the bus after these 10 whole years so we had a little chit chat and you know, he also asked for my number"

So this is how destiny works. Great, I think I better tell her about this guy.

"Interesting. Let's go inside, I need to tell you something"

"Now that is more interesting, what is it all about?"

I took a deep breath. It took me a minute to compose the sentence in my mind.

"Shelly, that guy is your soulmate"

She bursted out laughing. I can't blame her. That was a great joke, if it was even a joke.
