1:: the unexpected

Start from the beginning

" Hey, fellas!" he grimaced at the food almost choking himself. " Did you know that pizza with broccoli in San Francisco does exist? It's horrible" he scrunched his nose and throw the rest of the food in a hard up near here.

We all look suspiciously at the box Michael was holding onto and shake our heads, Calum whispering to him to drop it in the trash too. He did it as he was told to though he was disappointed he didn't have a chance to taste the pizza. Poor Mickey.

I went to the main desk of this area to ask when our bus will leave and found this girl who sounded upset talking to the lady behind the table.

" I'm sorry, but the bus had been cut up in traffic and it will arrive in at least three hours".

" What am I supposed to do until then?" she exhaled the words carefully, trying not to scream at her.

" You can go in the waiting area over there" the lady pointed inside the building.

" Yeah, thanks for help" she took her luggage and walked nervously to the wall of one of the airport buildings hitting her suitcase and then sitting on it with her elbows on her knees. She seemed tired and sad, her early status fading away swiftly.

I watched her taking some strand of hair out of her face, the light from the sun drawing shapes of red on her curly hair. Her blue eyes were glowing under the warmth and somehow they reminded me of... No it can't be... She's in Sidney, she can't be in San Francisco. Not now. Not today. Not here.

I didn't realized I was staring at her, until her eyes met mine and I couldn't stop, but just look at her from that distance, just like then. She's unchanged. She's still that girl from 10th grade. She's so beautiful.

She looked away and moved her eyes to the left and then right and then back at me, still confused of why some guy was utterly staring at her . She shook her head slowly unlocking her eyes off of mine and without a moment I broke the line I was standing at and approached her.

" It's not nice staring at somebody, you know that?"

She smiled and dropped her head down to the ground. She, then, rose her head back to me and said " It's not nice watching people staring at somebody, you know that?"

I bite my lips hiding the smile she was facing me, her voice sounded just like three years ago: quiet, but full of noise.

"I'm Luke", but you probably don't recognize me because I was the guy hiding from you whenever you were close from me in high school.

" I'm Skyler", I couldn't forget something as important as you're name.

She titled her head sideway and squinted her eyes at me.

" What?" I shyly asked her

" I think I know you", you do?, " You're the guy you ran into me thirty minutes ago".

I sighed myself in relieve and said " Yeah, sorry about that. Me and my friends were running from a group of girls who was chasing us. We must bumped in some people".

She looked confused and mimed some O's with her mouth, her face gave hints that she didn't know what 5 Seconds of Summer was.

" Sorry, um, we are in a band" she nodded slowly still not knowing what was happening. " 5 Seconds of Summer?" I continued, but her face was the same just like a minute ago.

" I must've lost the track of music update a couple of years ago" a shade of emberassement appeared on her face, her cheeks kindling in a shape of pink.

" Don't worry, it's all right. We don't have much freedom for a while now. I mean it's not like we don't like it..." and while I was rambling her body rose up and began taking her two bags in one hand, " we just- do you want to help you with those?" I pointed to her unsteady position.

" No, I can handle this" she tugged a smile, " I should probably head back inside, but it was good to meet you, Luke" another smile crossing her face, " I'm looking forward you're band".

"Yeah, cool, hope you like it", I put my hands in my front pockets, smashing some dust from the ground.

And with that, her back faced me and she began to walk away from me. But something told me to not letting her leave. It was my last chance to get to know her. It was my last chance to see her again. I can't give up now.

" Hey!", her name was running through my head though I was scared to call her, "Skyler!". She turned away and I came closer to her, trying to regular my breath and stay cool.

" Any chance your bus is heading to LA?" I asked her.

" Yeah", she dragged her word not sure if she would run or stay where she was.

" What would you say if I'd tell you our bus has a free extra spot and you can come with us?"

And maybe when we embrace the unexpected, it could change our lives for good.
