Midnight

Chapter 1

" Moonlight Middle School a school of honor and goodwill, a place where everyone is welcomed!" Yea right! As I read the stupid brochure to my boring new school I read it out loud to my parents. "Oh Stella can't you just try to be positive for once." My mom said with a frown. As I roll my eyes I notice my farther trying not to laugh. My mom and dad are so different from each other but yet they work together so well. My mom is the brains and is always so serious while my dad, well I think he never grew up.

I'm the only child in the family but my mom tried to have a baby boy 5 years ago. My mom said that he would never be able to live if he would've been born, and that the machine would live for him. I feel guilty when I told my mom that I didn't want a baby brother and I wished he would dissappear. I live with that guilt every year on the day he was born and died. My dad made a painting to represent my baby brother, it was a sky full of stars and planets.

My mom wanted to try and have another but she doesn't have the strength to go through another heartbreak. My mom said that moving could help us put the past behind us but, I know that won't help. So my mom and dad found a job they liked in Moonlight bay. There are more forests then cities which I like. We bought a house next to the science center that my mom and dad will be working at. It's a nice place don't get me wrong but I don't feel like I...fit in, in this new city. I mean come on a skinny black and violet haired girl in a school full of blondes and bruenettes. By the way I love my hair it's just right for me!

As we pull into our drive way I duck as I see the neighbors coming to greet us. "Welcome to the neighborhood!" A tall thin man says. He yells for his family to come greet us, I sit in the car with my hood covering my face. His wife and two kids come out, his wife has short blonde hair and his two kids both have brown hair one a 10 year old boy and the other looks like a 17 year old girl. My mom tells me to come out and say hi to our neighbors, I slowly come out still hiding my face from them as I stare at the ground "Hello." " Don't worry we won't bite!" Said the thin man in a silly voice. My mom pulls my hood down and the sun shines right in my eye.

My dark black and violet hair falls out in my face. I look up as I see the neighbors look at me I can see them look at me in shock, the kids looking at my piercings while their parents look at my hair. "Well that's...umm..." as the mother looks at me. My mom smiles and says "Well it was very nice meeting you Mr and Mrs Bingham." My farther waves as we walk towards our door. I look up waiting for my mom to find the key, as I look up I see a dude looking at me through our other neighbors window. As I meet eye contact with him he disappeared.
