A Drummers Ego

Chapter 30

After the people came to pick her up i ran to the bathroom real quick. when i got out i couldn't find Ashton anywhere. I checked all the rooms upstairs, the kitchen living room and even the basement but i couldn't find him. I went and checked outside. First i checked the front yard then the back. once i spotted our old tree house a little ways back in the woods i knew where he was. I guess old habits do die hard. When we where little and Ashton got really upset he would go up in the tree house.

i climbed up the steps we built agaisnt the huge oak tree, each step making sounds. I found Ashton sitting on the floor, head in hands, knees up to his chest. i slowly approached him and kneeled next to him.

"Ashton." I whispered.

He looked up at me. his face was red and puffy. His eye swollen from crying, which he still was doing. After looking at me for a few seconds he dropped his head back to his hands.

"do you want me to leave you alone?" I asked but he didnt answer.

"ill take that as a yes.' i sighed getting up and walking away.

Before I reached the steps to walk down he grabbed my hands.

"Don't leave me too." He said voice barely audible.

"Oh Ashy." I said hugging him real tight.

While we hugged he snuggled his face into my neck. I felt so bad for him. He just watched his mum die after not seeing her for a few months.

"She waited for you, you know." I said once he pulled away.

"Really?"

"Yup. And I found it weird she remembered you. She couldn't even remember her own name or who I was. You're very special to her, she had to say good bye to you before leaving." I said hoping he will feel a little better.

"I'm gonna miss her."

"Me to." I frown. Then we both herd a car door.

"Shit, they're back." I said quickly climbing down the steps and running to the front yard, Ashton right behind me.

"Ash!" Lauren and Harry yelled at the same time attacking him in a hug while I went over to his aunt and told her what happened. She agreed to taking care of all the wake and funeral plans while we handle the kids.

It was scary thinking how Ashton and I were now 19 and were adults and how we would be caring for a 16 year old and 9 year old. After a few minutes of talking to his aunt she left and we went inside with his siblings.

We all sat down in the living room. Lauren sat in the love seat, Harry sat the floor and Ashton and I sat on the big couch holding hands.

"I've missed you two so much.whats up?" Ashton asked all back to his cheery self.

"I made ten goals at my games!" Harry smiled.

"Really? That's awesome." Ashton smiled high fiving his little brother.

"Nothing new." Lauren say shrugging.

"Any boys?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"No." She smirked.

"Better not be." He grinned.

"How was tour?" Tay asked.

"Great loads of fun. I saw so many cool places." He smiled.

"Cool." She replied.

"So um I have something to tell you." His mood changing back to sad.

"What?" Lauren asked eyes going wide, she moved so she was sitting on the edge of her chair.
