I slipped on my thick black glasses before taking one more look in the mirror. The same thing I see every day, my plain brown hair hanging perfectly straight down my back with my thick black glasses framing my face. Our school had a school uniform so I had to wear a shirt and tie with a black cardigan and black skirt with knee high socks. I look like the biggest nerd on the planet, though I probably am.

I grabbed my black school bag and headed out the door making my way to school. It was quite windy, making my hair fly around everywhere but it didn't bother me. I reached the school within a couple of minutes and headed straight to my locker, grabbing the books I needed for my classes.

"Hey dork, nice hair" one of the random guys shouted as they walked by me. Ugh the popular kids, I'd rather not associate with them. I checked in the teeny mirror in my locker to see what they were talking about and I noticed the mess. My glasses were falling down my face and my hair was in a messy pile at the side of my head. I quickly untangled it before walking to my first class. I walked down the Physics corridor and into my classroom. I took my seat at the back by myself and got everything ready. With my luck it was alphabetical order and my last name was Whitehall so I got to sit myself since I was last.

Our teacher Mr McCoy took our register and I zoned out until the end. "Travis Smith, Amy Thompson, Lily Whitehall" Mr McCoy finished his register and started our lesson on the speed of light and sound.

It was the period before lunch and I had managed to get through the day without any major embarrassment. We were sitting in Maths doing the work we were assigned when there was a chap on the door. I ignored it unlike everyone else who would do anything to get out of doing work.

"Can I please see Lily Whitehall?" Our head teacher Mrs Marc asked. I cleared away my stuff and quickly hurried over to the door where Miss Marc was waiting. She guided me along to her office and I started to worry.

"Don't worry your not in trouble" she told me just before we got to the door. I breathed a sigh of relief but was still curious. The only sound I heard until we got to her office was her heels clicking against the floor until we got to the door and she led me in.

We weren't alone in the room though. A boy around my age was sitting himself on a chair and he looked up when he saw us. He had glasses that matched mine and his hair was slicked back into quiff-like style. He had our school uniform on with a black bag next to his feet and it made him look quite cute.

"Lily this is our new student Marcel, Marcel this is your new guide Lily" Mrs Marc said happily. She told us we had the exact same time tables so we could 'bond' and I was to make him feel comfortable in the school. I didn't exactly have a choice so it was awkward. She knows I've had trouble making friends and I don't like talking to anyone so why me?

We walked through the corridors and back into class. Everyone turned and stared at us, making me nervous. The teacher greeted Marcel and said he could sit with me since it was the only available seat. We sat down and I showed him what we were doing before getting on with my work.

"Uhm Li-lily?" Marcel asked me. I looked up curiously and he laughed a little.

"Do you have a sharpener? Mine just broke and my pencil snapped" he told me awkwardly.

"Umm no sorry, I always leave mine in the house so I dont lose it, you can borrow a pencil though if you want" I offered him and he nodded shyly. I gave him it and he thanked me.

"So um have you already got any friends here?" I asked him. He shook his head sadly.

"I dont really like socializing with popular people, I'd rather stay in the shadows and have 2 friends at the most" he told me. I nodded my head and went to speak up.
