Chapter 1

Amaya's POV

To say that I was happy was an understatement. I got a promotion at my work!! I worked at Rachel's, a cafeteria, as a waitress. But now I got a promotion as a manager.

The cafeteria was owned by my college friend Rachel. She opened a cafeteria of her own and as I was jobless, she told me to come and work till I found a better job but nothing is better than working as a manager in my best friend's cafeteria.

I was now jumping and smiling like crazy while I was returning home. Passers-by were looking at me like I was a gorilla. I could not wait to announce the news to my father.

To my daddy dearest... My daddy is the best. He used to work in Silvester's Co & Ltd. It was a big business but no one used to acknowledge him very much as he was a mere clerk.

Two weeks ago he retired from the job. But most of the money he earned went into gambling. Yes he was great but he was a gambler and I had no clue of it! Till I went to the disco with Rachel to celebrate my 19th birthday. Then I saw him there, gambling the money. That day I turned the whole house upside down.

But then he promised that he would stop and he did. I saw the familiar house of mine a few metres away. I ran to my house and opened the door slowly to give him the surprise. Then I heard him speaking in a hush voice. He was speaking on the phone. I hid behind the living room door and heard him say...
