As a small black cat limped into the clearing, several other cats emerged from dens that had been woven together from reeds and grass. "Ravenfeather!" a small black and white kit ran forward as he called his name. "Tigerspirit! I thought I told you not to pester other cats!" Lionbreeze scolded. "But I wasn't pestering!" Tigerspirit protested. Ravenfeather purred, and, remembering when he was a kit, continued towards Herbstar's den, where she would treat his wound.
Ravenfeather was a member of Starcamp, and helped to protect and fight for his camp. He had earned his wound when trying to help Naturecamp defeat Lightcamp. He had been out hunting along the border between Starcamp and Naturecamp when he heard battle cries coming from the other side of the border.
The battle was almost over by the time Ravenfeather arrived. Even so, he dived right in and started to fight a Lightcamp cat. He had managed to get the enemy to the ground and started to pummel him, when, suddenly, the opposer pushed up and sent Ravenfeather soaring through the air like a bird. He didn't notice the small scratch that had been left on his hind leg. He continued biting, clawing, and fighting until the battle had been won.
As he returned home, Ravenfeather had noticed that his leg was cold with blood and felt as if it was on fire. He remembered that his his hind leg had been slashed at when he was engaged in combat with a fierce Lightcamp warrior named Whitestorm and that the warriors pure white coat was dappled with blood at the end of the fight. Ravenfeather winced and he tried to take his mind off the pain for the rest of the way home.
Ravenfeather had been replaying the battle in his head the whole time Herbstar treated his wound. He felt her lick the top of his head and say his name softly. Ravenfeather got up and stretched. "Thank you, Herbstar," he mewed weakly as he limped towards the exit.
