Riley
I can't see him anymore.
This whole battle had been a mistake. I never should have listened to Levi. He had ruined our tribe for sure.
But I'd worry about that later for now I had to find my soldier.
'Damn it Marcus!' I internally thought.
It had seemed like this war had been raging for years rather than months. The battle felt like days rather than hours.
It was finally coming to an end.
We've won. Or so I thought.
So I searched for him.
Waiting to see that strong face, those green eyes.
He is my person. He is my life.
I see his form off into the distance.
He sees me as well.
He calls out my name.
Out of nowhere a Roman attacks to my left. I swiftly move my sword cutting into his abdomen. Suddenly there's an ambush and Marcus is battling it out with 3 massive soldiers. I race towards him, cutting down anyone who gets in my way.
He's killed two but the third who appeared to be weakened stabs him from behind.
Time stops.
Our eyes meet.
My screams can't be heard, but I can feel them.
The anguish in my voice can be heard throughout the battlefield.
He gives me a knowing smirk as he begins to fall.
This can't be happening. I sprint as hard as my body will carry me, killing the monster that did this with a single slice to his throat.
When I reach him and pull his body into my arms, I can feel him slipping away.
I know what is about to happen but I refuse to accept it.
"Marcus," I scream, "Marcus listen to me. You are not allowed to die. Do you hear me! I forbid it!"
"Then..I....I have ....failed you...my queen," he gurgles as blood fills his mouth, "Forget me when I am gone."
"No," I whisper, "Never."
"Till ....the moon ....turns red," he smiles sadly, "I ....I....shall love ...,you."
"We shall meet again. I promise my love," I say sadly letting my tears flow.
But he is already gone.
I can't move. I refuse to be moved.
I will have my vengeance.
I will destroy the Romans.
And I yell into the night.
"No!" I scream falling off my bed.
I realize I'm back in my room, here in New York. What the freaking hell was that. Oh wait. It's the same dream I've been having for the last 4 weeks. Ever since I turned 17, this nightmare has been reoccurring like clockwork and each time I wake up feeling like a piece of my heart has been cut at the death of Marcus. The thing is, I DON'T KNOW WHO HE IS!!! I've never seen this guy before in my life, yet why do I feel so attached to him?
My alarm clock goes off. Well it was time to get up anyways. I get up, slowly stretching out my lean torso. The only good thing about those dreams is I wake up feeling like a bad ass warrior princess, ready to take on the world.
