Being 16 and having to move from a different country to start a whole new life sucks ass! Especially when you're going to be moving in with your Mom and her new HUSBAND! I wanted to stay in Brazil but just before the summer ended my Dad got into a big car accident and he died, and I don't have any relatives in Brazil so I have to move to Canada with my Mom and her new "family". It's really hard to move to a new place where school already started a month ago, everybody already has their "squads" and their groups...
"MAYA!!!"
I heard my name being called but the airport is crowded so I couldn't see who was calling me. All of the sudden I saw a tan tattooed girl running towards me. I squinted.
"MOM!!!" Before I knew it I was being engulfed by my mother's embrace.
She smelt different... Not a bad different but it didn't smell like how I remembered.
"I've missed you so much!" She squealed wrapping one arm around my shoulder.
"I've missed you too." I was still mad at her for leaving me and my Dad for another man.
"Here, let me get those." She reached for my bag.
She guided me to her car and we drove about 45 minutes from the airport, nobody looked like the people from Brazil they were all so pale and I saw a few black people but very limited.
We pulled up in a driveway. I looked at the house and it was huge! I couldn't believe that my Mom went from living in a 2 bedroom apartment to living in a 3 storey 5 bedroom house.
My Mom told me that her husband's name is Calvin and he has 3 kids 2 boys ages 7 and 9, and a girl the same age as me; 16. My Mom knows that I'm a lesbian but I don't know if she told her new family a lot about me.
"Okay a few ground rules before I show you around. Number one DO NOT talk back to Calvin or you will be punished, number two don't bring up your father-" I cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
"Why the fuck not? Like he's my father your ex husband and he's dead I have the right to talk about him all I want. And if your "family" doesn't fucking like it I DON'T CARE!" I started yelling at her and her facial expression went from friendly to shocked so fast.
"The only reason I don't want you to talk about your father is because I don't want to be reminded how the first man I ever loved is dead." Her eyes started filling with tears but she wiped them away as soon as they came.
I felt bad for yelling at her and not hearing out the reason she had.
"Okay last rule." Her voice was shaky "You're going to be sharing a room with Devina."
My jaw dropped. I've seen pictures of her and she is a goddess! She has long brown flowy hair, and these gorgeous emerald green eyes that pierce into your soul, she has an amazing singing voice. She has the perfect figure and her curves were perfect. Her head is the perfect shape, it's like a fragile egg, her complexion is clear and her green eyes compliment her pale skin perfectly.
"Uhh uhm" I couldn't find the right words to say. "Uhm are you sure that that's a good idea?" I was so worried that she'd think I'm a freak or something.
"Uh I had a bit of concerns but there isn't another room so you kinda have to share a room. But if you ever get uncomfortable, just tell me and I'll try to work things out." She responded with compassion.
We walked it to the house, it looked bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. Directly in front of me is a spiral wood staircase, to my left there's the living room; it's very spacious, it has a big window to the right of the room looking out into the backyard. I really like the colour it's an eggshell white with grey accent pieces. To my right is the kitchen. It's very big and open, there's a double door fridge, a pizza oven and all the other fixings you'd find in a kitchen.
