"I still can't believe he asked", Octavia grinned while her dark haired friend put the finishing touches on her make up.

"Hold still, Octavia. I'm trying to make you look like you actually know what make up is." Raven snapped.

"I'm sorry. I paint an emotional face on every day and that's enough work without throwing all this crap on too," Octavia sighs.

"Well this will be the only face you have on tonight because you are going to have a great time," she said as she set down the brush. "There you go! All done. I'm pretty proud if I do say so myself. Go ahead and look," she motioned towards the mirror.

"Wow. You did do a great job. And I can still, kind of, tell it's me."

"What are friends for."

Octavia turned to face Raven and she was looking down at her hands. "Are you sure you don't want to go? It's your senior prom!"

Raven looked up into her friend's light blue eyes, "yes, Octavia, for the hundredth time, I am sure I don't want to go watch a bunch of people I don't care about dance like perverts all night."

"Listen, I know that I wasn't going to go and it was going to be a girls night with me, you and Netflix. But when Lincoln asked me I couldn't just say no! He's like the third hottest guy in our class." Octavia grabbed her friend's hand in an attempt to console her.

"Octavia, I'm fine. I want you to go have fun. I just know that I would rather stay home and play Call of Duty or rewatch Orange is the New Black on Netflix."

"Gosh what am I going to do with you my anti social partner in crime?"

Raven smiled, "leave with your boyfriend and let me be anti social?"

"Okay I can take a hint. I'll just go.. out the door.. not even a hug goodbye from my best friend..." Octavia slowly walked towards her front door while looking back at Raven.

"Get over here you loser," Raven stuck her hand out and pulled her long time friend in for a hug.

"I love you, Raven." Octavia smiled and looked into her friend's eyes, "thank you for everything."

"No problem." Raven gave Octavia a half smile, "like i said, what are friends for."

Octavia smiled at Raven when there was a knock at the door.

"He's here!!" Octavia gasped. "Raven how do I look? Be honest."

Raven looked at her friend from head to toe and smiled, "you look beautiful, Octavia."

"I hope Lincoln thinks so!" Octavia turned to open the door. There stood a young man, at least six feet and then some, with a huge build and a white smile.

"Wow, Octavia. You look... great" Lincoln said as his eyes scanned her body as her friend's did moments ago. "I, uh, got you this," he said as he handed her a corsage.

"Aw, Lincoln, it's beautiful! Thank you.

"Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah just let me say goodnight to Raven." Octavia turned from her date and faced her friend. She looked into Raven's chocolate eyes and could tell she was upset. "I guess it's finally time," Octavia said, ignoring her gut feeling about her friend's emotions.

"Yep. I guess it is."

"Call me if you need anything okay?"

"I'm fine," Raven lied. "Go. Have the best night of your life." Raven watched her friend walk out the door not knowing she had just sent the love of her life out for the worst night of her life.
