Someone's Truth

I carry on

Wondering, lusting after hallowed halls,

My feet blind and eyes closed.

A single candle, shortly two,

Burns in the night.

Here are housed

The huddled masses, the weakened spirits

And the forsaken hearts.

My childish fantasy, simple and clear,

Is marred by the hollow yearning for truth.

I grasp, and fall just short.

I reach, and hit the wall.

Bloodied, broken, blissful in my ignorance,

Someone's truth won't set me free.

I carry on,

My candles reviled--

Listening, calling after cloistered ears,

And no one hears me.
