How would you describe your life in one word? That's a question I've been asked way too many times. But the answer I give every time is that my strange, depressing life is... Interesting. Everything for me has always been just that. Whether interesting is good or bad, I could never tell you. But the one thing I do know for sure now, is nothing is impossible, except for having a perfect life. Everyone's opinions are different and so, there is no such thing as 'perfect'.
Right now it's just me and my brother, Connor. He's always been there for me, and so happy and upbeat, even in the toughest of times. But it can be a pain the ass when he shows no bad emotions, you know what I mean. Like, you can't not cry at someone's funeral and you can't not be angry when the world is totally screwed up. I guess, really I just envy that he's always been able to keep his spark when mine went out so long ago and I miss being able to laugh and smile and enjoy the little things. I miss all that so, so much...

I hear the bell ring for the end of class, taking me back to reality and away from my deep thoughts. Everyone jumps to their feet and shoves their books, homework and assignments into their bulging, oversized bags. Trying to organize my books and papers as much as possible, as quickly as possible, I shove everything in my bag and head to my next class which, sadly, is on the other side of the school. Being sixteen isn't as easy as so many people think it is, and I was certain that I'd rather be in bed right now.

I move quickly through the school, trying not to be late, and pass a group of senior students on my way. Its mostly a group of overly-stereotypical jock-type guys, all buff and brainless, taking up more walking space than needed. Not wanting to accidentally intimidate them or scare them away, I look down at the floor as I pass by. Big mistake. Suddenly I feel a great force push against my body and I get knocked to the ground. The moment I collide with the pavement all of my books and papers go flying.
"Crap!" stupid books.
I squeal quietly as I hit the floor, but quickly recover looking up at the boys, who are towering over me. My height and build are mostly average, but from this angle I look like a helpless little mouse.
"Aargh! Watch it will ya!" Yells the tallest of the guys, the one that I had just run into. He's tall (obviously) and kinda muscle-y, but unattractive considering the fact that he, basically, has a blonde mop on his head.
"I'm so sorry..." I say, grabbing some of my books and holding them close to my chest. Scowling, he knocks the books out of hands with one of his big feet and they scatter again. Seriously not cool... Never kick someone while they're down. Female or otherwise.
"Hey cool it man!" Says one of the others, pushing 'mop-head' out of the way. "You guys go ahead, I'll stay back and help."  Walking towards me, he offers a friendly grin, which I reply to with a scowling stare. The other guys, although grunting and partially confused, walk off leaving us together, alone.
"You alright?" he asks and kneels down next to me. His obvious over-popularity and charming voice are off putting to say the least, but I let him help me anyway. "My name's Max by the way. What's yours?" I look up at him for a second and quickly look down again. His amazing features and white teeth are blindingly perfect, and his blonde hair blows softly in the slight autumn breeze. It sickens me! What is this, a movie!?
"Yeah I'm fine." I say as I shove everything back into my bag. Feeling out of breath, I decide to keep my answers, and his presence, short. We pick up my school work quickly, in utterly blissful silence, and he stands while I zip up my bag saying, "but I couldn't care less what your name is, I just have to get to my next class." Standing up myself I notice Max looking through a handful of paper. Was he even listening?
"These are really good," he says, smiling slightly as he looks up at me. Then I realize what he's looking at. "did you draw them?" I'm at a loss for words. They were my most recent sketches, the ones I'd been doing during class ('coz why not?). I hadn't wanted anyone to see them, I was perfectly fine with keeping them to myself, private.
"Uhh... Yeah I did, but—" I snatch the drawings from his hands, fold them neatly, and put them in my pocket. "I gotta go Max! Bye!" Walking quickly away I think about how nice he was to me and how horrible and blunt I had been towards him. "Stupid!" I whisper quietly to myself. A strong ringing sound echoes through the school, reminding me again of how late I am.

When I finally get to class everyone else has already started. Thinking of what I could possibly say to the teacher I slowly reach down to the door knob. What the hell was I supposed to do? I'm so late I might as well just go home, it is final period after all. But before I could even touch the door, let alone open it, something grabs me from behind. Putting a hand over my mouth to stop me from screaming, the large, dark figure holding me tightly whispers in my ear "You, Love, are a very important girl. You know, I have been looking for you for over a hundred years. And now, I have finally found you." His strong, old timely British accent might have seemed sweet and charming, if I wasn't scared out of my mind. I move around violently trying to free myself. With no success, his grip on me just tightens. I want to turn around and punch his ugly face, but I've lost all ability to move. By this point I'm so confused that I feel I should be dreaming, but that thought is quickly diminished when I feel a piercing pain go through me, and my vision goes black as I lose consciousness. The last thing I see is Max in the corner of my eye.
