Here I am. New York,New York.I sit my luggage next to me as I plop down in the cab and tell my driver where to go.
I'm in NEW YORK!
How much better could my life get. Aside from me getting an internship with the biggest fashion promoter in the industry, Siobhan Antony, It can't get any better. I run my fingers through my hair trying to fathom how I'm possibly even in this situation. The company has provided me with a beautiful loft, and a car so that I can get around without having to take a cab.
"Ma'am do you have any directions?" My driver said in a thick New York accent. Aren't cab drivers supposed to know the city inside and out? I'm having too good of a day to ask.
"Yes sir, just a second." I rummaged through my backpack to find the green piece of paper I wrote the directions on until I found it. "Here you go." I said and handed him the paper. After a few seconds, of him staring at the paper,I hear him mumble under his breath,I could only hear the last few words which were "other side of town". I'm beginning to think this guy isn't very good at his job, considering the farther we go, the more money he makes.
So we drove in silence for about thirty minutes until we pull up into a large brown-bricked building with one big revolving door. I pay the cab driver his money and get my luggage out. I walk up to the building and am greeted by the doorman. A heavy set man in his mid 50's with a big grey mustache. He had on a red door man suit.
"Hello ma'am,how are you this fine afternoon?" He asked with the biggest smile.
"I'm great thank you." I said smiling back.
I go through the revolving door and find the elevator. I'm on the seventh floor of the building. So it takes me about 45 seconds to get there. I look down at the paper I pulled out earlier to see my apartment number. 7F.
I was standing right in front of it.The door was a large black one with a bright shiny gold doorknob. Joan at the front desk of Siobhan Antonys company said they would leave a key under the mat.
I checked under the mat and sure enough, there was a key. I unlocked the door and was greeted with the smell of fresh paint. I took a look around and was surprised to see that the loft was fully furnished. There were white leather couches in the living room with a brown and black cheetah print blanket hanging over the back of it. The kitchen had a huge granite island in the middle of it and a large stainless steel refrigerator. I walked further into the apartment and there were two rooms. Both completely furnished with a large full bed and nightstand and a bathroom. Only the master bedroom had a shower.
I don't start the internship until next week, so tomorrow I would just be taking a tour of the city. I decided against unpacking and going straight to sleep. I was jetlagged coming all the way from Inglewood California. I had to sit next to an 8 year old boy who wouldn't stop asking if I had games on my phone.
I went to the master bedroom, took my shoes off and plopped into bed for a good long nap.
