My eyelids fluttered open, waking me from my dreamless sleep. I rolled over and sat up on the edge of my bed. Today was it. The day I would marry the best thing that's ever happened to me: Liam Payne. I should be jumping up and down from excitement. But I'm not. I know Liam loves me, and I love him, and we'll be very happy together, but- it just doesn't feel right. My father passed away five years ago, so he can't give me away. And he never met Liam. Suddenly I felt the need to visit him. I got dressed, grabbed a jacket and an umbrella, since it was starting to drizzle, and drove away. I arrived at the cemetery several minutes later. It was very early, so I expected to be alone. I was wrong. I walked down the path I knew so well and was about to turn the corner when I heard a familiar voice. "I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, sir, but your wife has told me she's just like you in many ways, and if that's true than you must be a wonderful man. I never thought I'd find a girl like Sarah. She's so kind, and thoughtful, and forgiving. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on, and I can't believe she wants to be mine. I promise you I'll take good care of her. Even when I'm not physically with her, I'll find ways to let her know she's not alone. I love her, sir. More than I will ever be able to express. So I want to ask you for Sarah's hand in marriage." I smiled. "He would have said yes," I said, finally making my presence known. Liam turned around to face me. "It just...." "Didn't feel right?" I finished for him. He nodded. Just then, a bluejay flew down from a tree and landed on my father's tombstone. At seeing this, a tear ran down my cheek. "What is it, love?" Liam had worry in his eyes. "My father absolutely loved that bird and had owned one as a child for a week, but had set it free, believing the bird he loved deserved to fly freely. He always called me his little bird," I explained. Liam pulled me into a hug, but I continued to watch the bird. I swear it looked right at me, chirped a few notes, then flew away. And thats when it hit me. "Liam, it's a sign. He's setting his little bird free," I whispered. Liam smiled and turned to the tombstone once more. "Thank you so much, sir," he said, smiling as he turned to kiss me. Several hours later, I stood in front of the dressing room mirror trying to recognize the girl staring back at me. "You look so pretty, Sarah," my sister Emily said, gazing at my reflection. I smiled. "Hey, you don't look too bad yourself," I said, admiring her light blue matron of honor dress. "You both look beautiful," my mother said, coming into the room. "And you, my dear, are simply radiant!" She said, holding me out at arm's length. "Thanks, mom," I said, hugging her. A few tears ran down her cheek as she pulled back. "Almost ready?" My Uncle David peeked into the room. He was my father's brother and was going to give me away. "You look beautiful, Sarah," he said, hugging me. "You know, every time you smile, I see your father," my mother said. "She's right. Your smile lights up a room, just like his did," my uncle agreed. I smiled, a tear falling down my cheek. "Sorry to interrupt, but we've got a wedding to attend in five minutes!" Emily broke in, hustling us out the door to the garden where the ceremony was being held. "Love you," my uncle said, kissing me on the check. Emily made a few last minute adjustments to the train of my dress as the music started to play. I watched as the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the isle, followed by Emily and Greg, the best man. Then my little cousins walked down as the flower girl and ring bearer. Taking a deep breath, I walked arm-in-arm with my uncle. I looked down, trying to keep from tripping, and before I knew it I was at the gazebo where Liam was waiting. I felt his eyes on me, and they locked with mine as I looked up. I had never seen him so happy. He squeezed my hand and whispered, "you look beautiful," I smiled and returned the squeeze. "Do you, Liam Payne, take Sarah Harnden as your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?" "I do," Liam said, his eyes full of love as he gazed at me. "And do you, Sarah Harnden, take Liam Payne as your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold....as long as you both shall live?" I let a tear of joy slide down my cheek as I smiled up at Liam. "I do," "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," the priest said as Liam turned to me and pulled me into a kiss. "May I introduce Mr. and Mrs. Payne!" The priest said as we pulled away. As we walked back up the isle, Liam whispered in my ear, "I know it's crazy, but I just know your father's here." I gave him a confused look, so he continued, "I saw him with your mom and sister. I saw him next to your uncle. But I saw him in you. He's here, I just know it." I smiled. "I think you're right," I said, kissing him.
