Kyoko walked out of the grocery store feeling very triumphant. The goodies she had stuffed under her worn jacket were like jewels to her. Just one bite and her troubles were momentarily forgotten.
She strolled down the damp streets of Kazamino city. The air smelled moist and thick, like a storm was brewing. She decided to call it a night, and do some more "shopping" later.
She wasn't too far from the Sakura church before lightning crossed the sky.
"Darn!"
Kyoko ran to the nearest shelter, a bus stop with a flickering lamp. She watched the streets and the pouring rain. It was raining hard now and she hoped she wouldn't be here to long.
The wind whipped at her bare legs, and her jacket was damp. She shivered, holding herself tight. She looked around. "If I stay out here all freeze to death," she thought. She looked around for somewhere to take refuge. She could go into a coffee shop, but she had no money and she didn't look the least bit presentable.
Thunder cracked and the wind hissed. Kyoko looked up at the sky, lighting streaked across it. After ten minutes of non-stop rain, she knew the storm wasn't going to end anytime soon. At this point she was drenched and chilled to the bone and could barely feel her feet. She decided to make a bolt for it. She shoved what food could fit in her pockets and ran.
The wind was deafening. She had to squint her eyes just to make out her surroundings. Buildings and signs passed by in colorful blurs. Kyoko used some of her magic to aid her speed. She was going so fast she nearly slid right pass her church. Drenched and cold, she threw open the doors and ran to her corner of belongings and unwrapped some blankets.
She pealed off her clothes and hoping against hope know no one would find her tonight. She laid her head down on her arm. Her body was still shaking from cold. Thunder rumbled and lightning dimly lit the church.
She thought to herself how eerie her church looked. Shattered glass tapped with duct tape. Chipped pews and old Bibles scattered across the floor. How different it had looked just a year ago. How beautiful...
Your fault
Your fault.
It's all your fault
She placed her hands on her ears.
"It's not..."
You're at fault.
What have you done?
"I'm sorry..."
WITCH!!
Thunder roared. Kyoko open her eyes. How long it had been, she did not know. She turned over and tried to sleep.
"Not my fault..."
