Prologue
A shrill ringing blasted from my phone. I opened only my left eye, annoyed. I grabbed my phone and the time on the screen displayed 6.20 a.m. I switched off the alarm and pulled out the charger.
Holy shit, I was late. I usually woke up at 5.50. I went straight to my room and jumped on the bed last night when I reached home. I must've been so worn out as I was still in the clothes I was in yesterday. I catch the 6.50 bus everyday which leaves me 10 minutes to take a shower and another 10 minutes to change, which the chances are really low since my homework was scattered all over my bedroom floor and I've yet to packed my bag.
I took a 5 minutes shower instead and when I got out, I immediately put on my uniform and shove all my paperwork in my backpack not caring whether it'll be crumpled. I hate being late, but my family has always been late to every family occasion so I guess it runs in the genes although I know punctuality isn't really considered a trait. I was contempleting whether I should tie my hair and when I unlocked my phone, the time was already 6.45, which gives me less than 5 minutes to sprint to the bus stop. Hell, i don't even run.
I reached at the nick of time. I was already panting as I tapped my bus card and entered to find a seat in the bus, only to find myself sitting across him.
Let me tell you abit about myself. I'm sixteen this year and I'm as awkward as a turtle would be. I hate school and I hate the people in the school, especially. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, and only them. Other than them, I feel like shoving a knife in everyone's throats. School has been like the last stage of hell eversince I reached Senior year. School has been hell, but things got even messier as we advanced. Homeworks were piling, projects had shorter durations til deadline and people became even more stuck-up and arrogant just because it was their last year in school.
About him, we'll find it out along the way.
I tried not to look into his direction and look for other students in the bus that I recognised. Thank God I saw my junior who was in the same co-curriculam activity. Thank Goodness, I wasn't late alone. Yay me.
As we alighted, I was already sprinting. We still needed 10-15 minutes to walk from the bus stop to school and when i glanced at the screen of my phone, I was left with 5 minutes until the side gate would close. I gave my junior a quick wave and sprinted, being the last to enter through the side-gate. He was behind me by a minute but it was too late. The side-gate was locked and the student councillors in charge of manning the side-gate have already made their way to the parade ground for assembly. I couldnt't help but feel sympathy for him having to walk to the front gate which takes another 5 minutes and getting the detention slip. But part of me said he deserved it. We made eye contact and I immediately turned away and join the pool of students making their way to the parade ground.
*****
"Okay class, please get in groups of four as you guys will work on chapters 2 & 3 for the Humanities project."
I immediately look over to one of my close friends and gave her a smirk. She mouthed, 'come here' and I gave her a thumbs up. My friends and I have an amazing telepathy. Whenever there a group works, we would no doubt, come together, sometimes without even asking. I took my chair my placed it beside one my close friends, Melody. Beside me was Eva and at Melody's left was Ally.
"Camila, go and get the paper. My ass is stuck to my seat and there's no way I'd get up just to get a piece of paper." Melody nudged me in the shoulder. I groaned and rolled my eyes.
