The sun had already marked its territory with its golden rays, but now the moon was fighting over it with it's own silvery beams. Street lights flickered on, illuminating the deserted roads.
Summer walked along the pavement she knew all too well, the inauspicious place never bothered her, though may had seemed unnerving to others.
She would imagine multiple houses, with individuality practically written across them. Each door was a different ashy tone. One house would look as if a queen herself lived within it, with shimmering white tiles leading to the darken glass doors. Another a couple meters down, a small cottage suitable for only a hobbit, with its unusually low roof. The houses went on like this for what seemed like forever. Sometimes she thought that maybe in between those couple meters of empty space, there was another dimension, or even another century.
She combed her disastrous hair through her fingers, but the strong wind continued to rip it out of her grasp. Her eyes were the matching silvery colour of her hair. Together they glimmered in the light of the moon as she mentally followed the directions towards home.
She almost didn't hear the boy behind her, but she could feel another person's presence. When she turned around to check if she was being followed, she came to realise that her instincts were outrageously correct. Her senses were awakened. An alarmed wave rushed over Summer, she straightened. Everything sharpened, as if she was walking in a blur before. The distinctive smell of men's' cologne filled her nostrils. Her ears pounded, much like her heart. Her eyes darted to her surroundings, the way a deer's would when it knows it's being hunted.
She turned her head sharply left and right, then took another step. For what she was waiting for, she didn't actually know. As she passed under one of the street lights, a hand shot out and grabbed her shoulder to stop her.
"Hey!" The stranger shouted over the loud winds. He was rather young, around her age. He forced a pleasant smile, trying to show his innocent eyes. They were fake, and she could see straight through them. Were they innocent? Of course not.
"I recognize you from somewhere," he said when she remained quiet, only staring at him.
His charming and luring looks kept her from running, or rather punching him. She knew something horrifying was approaching, but stayed completely still. She admired his tonal complexion, slightly dark with the lack of bright light. Coincidently, the light she was at was the dimmest one of them all, a perfect place for someone to mug or kidnap her.
"How have you been?"
She hesitated, she couldn't match his face to any name stored in her head, and the thought of it created a paranoia within her system. Was he from her school? She knew that it couldn't be, a guy like him would never notice her. Unless he was one of the victims of her outbreaks.
He wanted something, she could tell. She looked deadly close into his emerald eyes, and a voice in her head screeched, "Any minute now!" Her breathing picked up. Any minute now?She thoughtlessy grabbed the back of her head, and pulled at her hair, telling herself to stop . Any conventional human would believe Summer was crazy. Voices popped up in her head every other minute, and they weren't quiet either. She pushed the mental screams to the back of her mind.
"Um-I've been wond- wonderful, how about you?" She struggled to speak out to him. Should she pretend someone was calling for her or waiting for her, or should she admit she didn't have a clue who on earth this stranger was? Or do the inevitable, punch him and run?
"Great!" he said with far too much enthusiasm. Forced eagerness.
She stepped back on her heels, and he moved closer. She didn't know if it was the foggy air or the minimal amount of lighting on the boy's face, but the image of a kidnapping slowly appeared clearer and clearer. Her anxiety level then shot through her body like a bullet. It was time to move.
"I have to go." She turned away, in an attempt to begin running.
"Wait-," he said in a sharp tone, his voice no longer sweet or endearing. She turned with a clenched fist, finally knowing what her next move should be. But he was too fast and reacted first. A swing was taken. He caught her before she completely fell to the icy concrete.
At first she tried struggling against his firm hold, trying to punch him with her almost frozen hands, doing anything to get herself free. Her eyes slowly became heavy, she forced to keep them open, but they were in a trance, a heavy one too.

He could feel how panicked she was, and he almost felt sorry for her. He swung the unconscious girl over his shoulder, carrying her down the opposite road, she originally intended to head down.
As he sharply looked at his surroundings, his platinum hair fell into his expressive crystal eyes. His intense focus upon everything was discomforting. With no free hand to move the irritating piece of wispy hair, he blew and let it sit where it intended to. His arms were tense, much like his facial expression. He was no longer the innocent.
His obsolescent leather jacket, had small tears all across the sleeves. It gleamed against the flicker of a nearby lightning strike. He grinned and carried on to lumber. A sign from his father, telling him well done.
Every inch of his body was defined, from his distinctive collar bones to the way the bones on his face were structured to give him a natural glare.
A blade with a wooden handle was attached to his boot, though it wasn't the only weapon he carried. He never used it but kept it as a precaution, just in case there was a misapprehending situation while on his task.
He took a second to look at the weak girl in his arms.
He had no mutual feelings towards her, he repeatedly told himself. He knew her name, Summer Longshore, which was the only information he was given in order to find her. Quite an unusual name, he thought to himself. She was a half-blood nevertheless; whether she was aware of that or not was unknown to him. His father asked of him to find all demigods he could before the welcoming ceremony, and this girl was no exception.
Once they did that, she would no longer be his obligation. He was only sent to retrieve the girl and take her to his father, Zeus. That is all. But that was never all, and part of him already knew it.
