Immortal love
'Today a burnt picture was found of the necklace ’ immortal love’ in an abandoned hotel by a closed safe which is thought to be property of Damian Kingston. The person who found the picture is treasure hunter and writer Jayden Scott. The priceless necklace, bought by missing man Damian Kingston. The picture is of him putting in on an unknown female with her back to the camera. If anyone has any knowledge on this story please call him on 447700912345.'
I looked over to the TV screen. And saw the picture on the morning news. I dropped the pan I was holding. My twin sons Drake and Damon ran in.
“Mom are you ok?” Drake asked.
“Get me a phone.” I demanded.
“What?” Damon said confused.
“A phone. I need a phone.” I said in almost a whisper. A laughing boy came into my head as he took my hand and pulled me to the water. He always loved the water. I was snapped into reality as Damon passed me his mobile. I had the TV paused on the picture with the number underneath. I dialled the number and put it on load speaker as Christy, Drake’s fiancé came to his side while I started to clear up my mess.
“Hello Jayden Scott’s office how can I help you?” A happy voice questioned.
“Hello my name is Alexis Vento. I would like to speak to Mr Scott, please.” I say.
“May I ask on what terms?”
“I would like to claim my photo’s back.” I say. I hear gasps and a lot of shouting. Even my own family look shocked.
“Hello this is Jayden Scott.” He said in an excited voice.
“Mr Scott I would like to come down to Maris to get my pictures.” I stated.
“H-How do you know where we are?” He stuttered almost screaming in excitement.
“It is where I last saw that photo 30 years ago.”
“Come right down. Where are you I’ll send someone to get you and some family members? I can’t wait to hear your story Miss, I really can’t” He told me.
“I live in Blue Lake, California. Exactly 3 hours and 45 minutes from Maris. But I’ll make my own way down.” I answered, I only want my pictures.
“Ok, well I’ll see you soon.” He managed to say before I hung up.
My hands went to my top where my necklace lay; it’s so special to me. A hint of a smile graced my lips. I missed him so much. I let out a ragged breath to try and stop the tears that filled my eyes.
“Momma Alex what’s going on?” Christy wondered.
“I’m going to go on a little trip, but you are welcome to come, if you want that is.” I said casually.
“Hell yeah. Do you know how cool this is! My mom knows Damian Kingston!!!!!” Damon shouted punching the air.
“Do you even know who he is?” Drake smirked.
“No but I’ve heard of him. You don’t know who he is either!” Damon pouted.
“Well go pack a weekend bag then. But I’m only going to get my photo’s” I rolled my eyes at their childish acts, 29 and still act like 6 year olds. All three of them ran off. It is going to be hard going back to Maris, so many memories. Good......and bad. I went upstairs and looked at the only photo from Maris. Me and Dam on the beach. I put it in my handbag and packed my weekend bag I then went downstairs to see all three of them in the car jumping like puppies that saw a ball. I took one look at the house and smiled. I put my bags in the boot and got in the driver’s seat. I took 3 deep breaths, to stop all the flash backs from Maris. It’s not something I remember often. I set off on the journey. We drove in total silence apart from the radio. It’s like they felt my mood start to change on the way back. I promised myself never to come back to this place. That really was the only thing that stopped me from getting back the photos. But the idea someone else would get them turned my stomach. See the times me and Dam shared. Judging it all. That brought me back. But seeing the sea, the hotel, the beach, the pier well the whole damn place. It would choke me, but I had to do this. But I was mainly worried on Jeremy, the boys and Christy’s reaction. What would they think of me? How would they feel? But part of me wanted Jeremy her to hold my hand. But what he thinks of what I am doing stopped me. As I drove past the welcome to Maris sign I nearly stopped the car and drove back home. But I put my head up high and carried on driving. I look round the town that use to be full of character and laughter. The bright walls and the warm smiles. But now it is abandoned and grey. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. As I pulled up the long drive, I let out a mix between a gasp and a cry. The beautiful grand hotel that once stood here seemed like a dream. As now stood the cold burnt shell out its remains. I froze and stopped the car. I walked over leaving the bags. The boy screamed for me to come back to the car. I went to the tree. Our tree.
