BEEP BEEP! BEEP BEEP! ugh. stupid alarm. i quickly shut it off before rolling over in my bunk, clicking the side button on my phone to check the time. 7:45 A.M. it reads. i groggily stretch and attempt to sit up, before hitting my head on the bunk above me. i hate these things. i attempt to get up again, being more cautious this time. i quietly slip out of bed as to not wake the other boys. hi, im luke hemmings, the lead singer of 5 Seconds of Summer.
-----------------
after taking a quick shower, i decide on wearing my nirvana cut off shirt, ripped black skinny jeans, and my black vans. deciding not to deal with the mess that is my hair, i put on a snapback before slipping out of the tour bus without waking anyone. sweet, i think to myself. yeah, i love those guys, but when you're with them all the time, well, a guy can only take so much dirty underwear all over the place. we're taking a break in america, currently in los angeles. i really don't know my way around, so i whistle for a taxi and just ask the driver to take me to the nearest record shop. about 10 minutes later, he pulls to a stop and lets me know this is the destination. "best record shop in town, if you ask me." he says. I mutter a quick "thanks" before paying him, and even tipping him extra. i get out of the taxi and make my way into the shop. i hear a familiar ding dong! as i walk in. a girl at the register looks my way, nods, before turning her attention elsewhere. not much of a talker, i guess. not to sound cocky or anything, but does she not know who i am?
-----------------
shrugging off the awkward encounter, i make my way over to the Good Charlotte records, browsing through the albums. i decide on one, before heading over to the Green Day section. i decide on a couple of their albums as well, placing them, along with the Good Charlotte album, on the counter. i set my wallet on the counter as well, grabbing my credit card. the cashier doesn't say a word to me as she scans each album, taking great care of putting them into the bag for me. maybe she'll know who i am if i ask, i think. it's not that i want her to recognize me as a celebrity and die at my feet or something, but it's a bit rude not to acknowledge the customer,
isn't it? i smile at her as she hands me the bag and the receipt. "thanks," i say. "and your name?" she glares at me before motioning to her name tag. "it's emily." she says, an irritated look taking over on her face. "obviously," i hear her mutter softly, obviously not meant for me to hear. i try to be friendly, once again. "Luke Hemmings." this makes her look up again, although looking quite puzzled. "i'm sorry, but what is a luke?"
----------------
"what is a luke?" she said. the encounter with the mysterious girl from the record shop still ran through my mind. not only did she not know who i was, but she asked what i was. i shook my head, trying to not let the weird girl get into my head. i got back to the tour bus, showing the guys the records i'd bought. "sweet! let's listen to this Green Day one!" calum says, holding it up. "No way, I want to listen to Good Charlotte first." I say, taking the record away from calum, before putting Good Charlotte's record on the record player. michael paused game of thrones long enough to acknowledge me, before diving back into binge watching michael. i guess i still seemed off, because ashton looked at me and said, "what's up, man? you look like someone stole your puppy or something." i sighed, knowing they would think the record shop incident was stupid, but i shrugged it off, heading off into my bunk. its not like i ever have to go back to the record shop again, i'm sure there's others in the city. i think to myself. i reach in my back pocket to grab a twenty to bet calum he can't touch his toes, but when i reach for it, nothing is there. my wallet! where did i have it last? i think as hard as i can. i've only been to the
record shop today, but i had it then. wait, i think. the record shop.
