"Liz, come look!"

"Good or bad?" Liz asked, making her way to her husband who was standing as stiff as stone by the front door.

He held a few white envelopes in his his left, but the single one he was staring at was clutched in his right and was a dusty cream color. As she inched closer, a ruby stamp in the dead center of the envelope caught her eye.

"Is that...?" She asked as her husband called their youngest son down to hear the news.

Twig-like, with his fringe bouncing on his face each step he took, Luke came trotting down the stairs. He saw their parents expressions; proud with a tinge of sadness, and he knew that he finally got the letter he's been anticipating.

Luke was seven years old when his eldest brother Ben got his letter then watched as the year after, the brother he was closest to, Jack, got his letter. Ever since then he has been patiently waiting to get his letter, waiting to join his brothers.

"Would you like to read it out loud?" His mother asked, tears welling in her eyes because her last son- her youngest is leaving her too.

The eleven year old excitedly nodded as he took the letter from his father, who had patted him on his back then let his big hand rest on Luke's shoulder.

Luke observed the letter, flipping to from front to back. He let his fingers run over the stamp, feeling the pattern on the pad of his thumb before looking to his parents who had a tight-lipped smile. As soon as the encouraging nod of approval came from his parents, he wasted no time gently ripping it open.

"Dear Mr. Hemmings,

We are proud to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry..."
