It's not the actual film Mulan, it's the fact everyone thinks she is a Disney princess when in actual fact she isn't. When you think about it, she A) wasn't born into the thrown as we must all know. She is just the daughter of a man that fought for China once and B) she doesn't marry into it. I can't remember if Mulan and Shang get married in Mulan 2, but in number 1 they don't and Shang isn't a prince!!!! He is just the leader of that army.
